The Silence

Has a hauntingly beautiful cinematography and a deliberately arrhythmic quality that I found quite compelling even when the proceedings got a little too psychologically pat.

Top badass moment? Everyone is so miserable and wracked with guilt that it's difficult to find anything worthy of being considered badass. I guess the weather was nice most of the time; lovely warm, sunny days. Summer is badass. Winter is just crap; short days, cold, damp and wet. Yuk. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

A haunting tale which was interesting enough to keep my attention, but surprisingly lacked somewhat the emotional connection I expected. It's definitely a minimalistic thriller, relying more on subtleties in character to drive the story, which is refreshing, but at the same time, too "read between the lines" for me. Motivation and means of the crime were not fully explored which was odd but intentional. It's so different that I'm surprised I didn't like it. Maybe it needs another watch.

Intriguing crime drama, with the emphasis on the drama. Ulrich Thomsen is great as usual; the rest of the acting is rather melodramatic although I was still kept hooked to the end. Nice cinematography.

But the Trailer was sooo good.

This was quite a surprise! Really good acting, the story is sometimes lacking in suspense but overall it is a really good flic which leaves you with a bitter ending, which makes you think. Recommendation!

For everyone involved, this is sad sad story. Even for the bad guys. A gripping experience.

The Silence is a quiet, depressing procedural that serves as apt thriller. Solid performances all around, save the melodramatic/overly-tortured lead investigator.
