Another terrible trend film for gourmand normie trend-chasing morons. Nothing in it is believable, the characters are cardboard artfully cut to have past trauma in place of personality, and the propaganda underneath it all is sickeningly sycophantic.

This wasn't made for me. It also wouldn't be made like this today - not with TWO romantic relationships with age gaps that test cultural and legal mores. But in fairness, the movie feels much more genuine and caring toward its audience than the TWILIGHT-mania that would later dominate this demographic. Shoutout to the (apocryphal?) arcade cabinet version of Dragon's Lair 3D.

Good natured, easy to take teen fare is empty and vacuous, but agreeable performances from all of the performers add a heft and weight to material probably best suited to the small screen. The youth and inexperience of the lead characters helps make some of the more dramatic plot points more involving and modestly moving than in their middle aged counterparts (UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN, EAT PRAY LOVE etc.) which this resembles in many ways. Beautiful scenery in Greece and Mexico a definite highlight.

There are certainly far worse things adolescents can--and do--watch, and I can't imagine this having much appeal to any other age group. The utopia these chicks inhabit really is rather sweet.

Top badass moment? If only all clothes fitted like that. After clearing up my dinner that the first 10 minutes of this movie made me puke up everywhere, (I guess I’m not really its target demographic), it’s actually pretty good and even genuinely moving at times. It somehow manages to transcend its naff story and awful title, as well as overcome one of the worst MacGuffins in movie history. Also, Amber Tamblyn looks sooo cute as the Hot Gossip rock chick. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

A (teen) chick-flick when it's good at what it's supposed to be... a chick-flick. I am positively surprised! Apparently I don't agree with most in here but I think it's *Recommendable if you're not afraid of magic pants ;)

This adaptation of a beloved novel charms with its heartwarming tale of friendship and young adulthood; realistic portrayals of the lives of teenage girls lend the comedy-drama sincerity, and may capture hearts outside the female-centric demographic.

Honestly presents the overly-emotional turmoil that exists in the friendships of many young women, while occasionally grazing the area of sexist stereotypes. However, it discusses things such as self-esteem, sexuality and even mortality in ways that many films aimed at this target audience tend to avoid. Less focus on each girl's relationship with boys would benefit the script and help establish each character's individuality, but I guess the need for a boyfriend is an examinable subject itself.

This was a cute movie. It had decent acting. It was a weird plot, if you really think about it, but still cute anyways.

"The film's acknowledgement that growing up often requires coming to terms with loss results in a mature, untidy view of adolescence." - Nick Schager

I saw this because for some reason thinking Scarlett Johansson was in this movie. I just wanted to hang myself by my eye lids seeing this movie. I have no clue why people even made a sequel for this movie. Probably they just wanted to make sure we all committed suicide.

Loved the book, loved the movie, the entire cast was right for their parts. I can't wait to see the second one next year, here's having my fingers crossed!

Fun story. Not as good as book though. The actress who plays Bailey is really good.

You'll cry a little, laugh a little, and cry a little more. The perfect movie for mother-daughter bonding time or just chillin.

Yes...I saw this movie in a theater full of preteen girls and my wife... if you fall into either one of these categories, enjoy. If not...well, at least one of the four girls in the movie is hot..so there's that, I guess...

Everyone thought this movie was so good, but I don't why, especially if you read the book. Stick to the book.
