It's nothing special but it's not all that bad either. It's a popcorn movie, plain and simple. There's far worse out there but there's also far, far better.

Quick! Name a better actor than Paul Walker. Time! If you named any actor other than Paul Walker, you win! Edit 8/2021: This aged poorly. Posted less than a year before his death. RIP

This started off surprisingly strong and kept me intrigued by the secret society stuff which hasn't been covered too much in film. It made the film stand out from the Scream clones of it's era. It's quite good while it focuses on the mystery and slowly reveals it's secrets. Once the mystery is lifted, it goes seriously downhill and becomes like a teen version of "The Firm". It would have required more interesting characters and better actors to keep the interest alive. A wasted opportunity.

dead on documentary about by fraternity's pledge program. It was a great bonding experience because I saw it with about 12 of my brothers.

Never manages to seem the slightest bit realistic, which might be okay if it didn't seem so stupid, or if the leads were to die, or cute, or were horribly killed or disfigured. So where is the thrill? And how come the super powerful skulls come off looking like a bunch of bumbling old men? Because this movie stinks, that's why.

The film simply does not attract any interest to the viewer, everything is very fake, very useless. Not to mention that Joshua Jackson has no charisma or ability to hold a film alone.

Fairly bad attempt at making a thriller for teenagers as well as cashing in on Joshua Jackson circa Dawson's Creek

A Dawson's Creek approach to college life. It had some suspenseful moments and I'm generally a sucker for conspiracy-type films, but that makes it all the more damning that it was really bad. Overdone melodrama exudes from every line of dialogue, every plot twist, and especially every bit of acting.

Score based on memories distant if not repressed. (The director later did the first FAST+ FURIOUS movie and less well-known awful things; the writer scripted the recent horror THE QUIET ONES, which wasn't too awful, and both wrote and directed the sequel to the US remake of [REC], which was probably somewhat better than that description suggests. Conclusion: John Pogue was the one whose talents, however moderate, were being ill-used helping people make millions of quick bucks here.)

This movie is not perfect by any means, the script has some good and some bad moments. The cast does a good job here, most of the time raising the material. Overall I would recommend this movie.
