The Slaughter Rule

loved the montana countryside, and the feel it gives--at least when david morse isn't making me feel all weirded out.

The characters in this story are complex and convincing. David Morse is a coach and mentor, but his intense male comradery is easily confused as needy, or even creepy. Emotionally intense. All performances are good. The music and music balance is sometimes sub par. Ryan Gosling plays a young man coming of age in the wake of his father death, mothers breakdown and girlfriends exodus. Sometimes slow, but poignant story.

Great performances of two lead actors - Morse and Gosling. Also the crew did great jobs to capture terrains and rough weather conditions. I don't like sport movies as a genre but here director did avoid nicely that common feel-good ending.
