Typical slasher flick Nothing really stands out for me Call me old fashioned but only using a power tool to kill with isn't very inventive (to me) Personally I'd rather see a gutting

Expected and got boobs right away. 77 mins runtime and we're in for a lot of filler. No menace or scary build-up. No tension among the survivors. Some scenes are done well, such as the girl running up the stairs with a corded saw. Others, like the majority of the kills, weren't that interesting. Yet I want to keep it. Probably for the boobs. Fav scene: closing the garage door, the dead girl hanging down, and then the guy gets drilled from the back through his heart.

I'm pretty under-whelmed to be honest. It definitely hurts knowing what this movie was planned to be and what it could've been, but truthfully, it's flaws stand on its own, just fine. Though some of the slasher cliches are entertaining to sit through, it plays too close to the usual scripts and doesn't take enough risk for something that could've been Scream.

Lots of gratuitous nudity, boring filler and disappointing violence. The only redeeming value is the occasional bizarre line here and there. Mostly it's just people looking through curtains.

Boring kills, most of which occur outside of the actual slumber party. Lukewarm gore, and simply not enough nudity to save it.

I watched this expecting a shit ton of boobs. Well, there aren't that many, so no good wanking material coupled with below standard fare for a horror film. Pretty much a failure in my book.

You have to wonder what this movie could have done if they had filmed it as the feminist send-up of the genre it was supposedly intended as. Instead we mostly get just another slasher with a completely uninteresting villain and interchangeable victims. There are flashes of the movie it might have been, both in the jokes and in the parodically useless male characters, but overall it's a meh from me.

Coming from a female creative team doesn't make the film an automatic feminist riff on the slasher genre. I think too much credit is being given. The loooong gazes during the shower scene are downright uncomfortable. Questionable sleaze aside, there is a delightful pace about the film that makes for a pretty enjoyable final act.

A commercialized franchise version of The Driller Killer which was also terrible. The satirical elements can't make up for it not being memorable.

Actually breaks some of the rules of the slasher movie genre- there's no one "final girl", nudity doesn't automatically doom anyone, it's kind of refreshing.

Although all the chickies in this li`l flix all take off their gear, it's a very hollow movie with a pathetic baddie. The driller killer is a real loser and never gave me a chill. Even some of the cheesiest b-horror movies have really bad ass villains, but this guy's just an idiot. Disappointing on many levels.

A feminist horror film this is not, but it does play with the genre trappings enough to make this a standout slasher film. Just how focused it is on the male POV. Every shot of a woman is leering and exploitative. Not to mention all the phallic symbolism with the drill. Um, Freudian much? I’ve said before but I love horror movies where it’s just a killer shows up and starts killing with almost no reason. Just an entity in a world meant to cause destruction. Standout in the genre.

This was surprisingly good, based on what you'd think from the title. It's pretty straightforward, with a homicidal maniac terrorizing a group of teenage girls, and the boys trying to crash the slumber party. Had appropriately creepy organ music and some effective camera techniques. Dialogue was the main element lacking.

It is so weird to read that this script was a parody of slasher films, yet it was made "straight". It's a weird tone. Yet, in the shower scenes, where the camera pans down to look at butts, I do wonder how straight this film actually plays it. Speaking of high school showers, films always have them, but in ours, no one actually used them. We just loaded up on Axe and went to our next class.

It gets points for making the men the useless damsels, as well as for breaking a lot of the slasher movie rules, but it's just not a good movie. The score is irritating, the acting is weak, the writing is nonsensical and the killer isn't all that scary. Skip it, unless you're a serious fan of the genre and want to see a slightly different approach.

A surprisingly enjoyable and entertaining slasher film. One that actually has a group of people who attempt to survive instead of just being another bunch of hapless victims, too, although the killer is rather smart, too. In fact this film has a mostly silent murder who is creepy because he doesn't sport one-liners. The fact that this was originally supposed to be a parody of the genre shows through a bit, and the film's girl empowerment aspects are a rebuke to critics of slasher movies.

Pretty technically bereft, esp. the editing, which is bizzarely un-rythymic and barely coherent. The sheer number of fakeout scares gets old by the 20th minute. As for the reputed satirical and/or feminist angle, I'm not really seeing it except for the painfully obviously drill penis.

What a shame we can't see the film that Rita Mae Brown wrote (yes, Rita Mae Brown wrote this movie - !). She allegedly intended a tongue-in-cheek horror satire that was reworked into this fairly straightforward teen slasher. That said, there's an element of subversiveness I love: the killer here isn't a masked hulk like Michael Myers or Jason, nor a quippy charmer like Freddy or Ghost Face from Scream, he's just an average, schlubby guy with no allure, who's ruining these young women's lives.

Nothing special about this "Massacre". Just another 80's low budget slasher flick with some maniac running around killing people. One of the thousands. The deaths are rather boring, there is not alot of gore and the acting is , ofcourse, beyond terrible. Only for the fans.

A conventional slasher but, on a second viewing (having ended up seeing it without an ending to my annoyance), I was harsh on it then. Its not the best, but its a solid and engaging work for what it is, and certainly more entertaining than others. The film has also picked up a feminist viewing, and while it is a little bit of a stretch at times (this Roger Corman production is aimed at giving the viewer shocks and female nudity), it does appear at moments making the movie even more interesting.

I'm not sure where in the process it slipped, but it doesn't seem quite as effective as a subversion of the genre as it was meant to be. Still a lot of fun and a great quick thrill at under 80 minutes. All the girls were good and definitely better than average slasher victims

Yet another tacky _Halloween_ clone with busty babes menaced by a wild-eyed psycho? Well, yes and no. All the expected cliches are present, but a humorous approach on the part of Jones and Brown gives it a sense of fun usually lacking in similar efforts. Well acted by some very likable gals and also mucho gore; this peaks during a hilarious pizza delivery scene.

It's silly, schlocky & features all the gratuitous nudity & bland characters you'd expect given the title & premise. All said, it's little more than a harmless by the book slasher- but that's all it ever tries or wants to be, & the tropes it's executing are executed well for the time. There's a bit of humor thrown in, mostly everything makes sense plot-wise, & the ending is over-the-top fun. Nothing special or overly exciting, but there's an odd charm to it that makes it worth a watch.

The thing about this film is a weird mythology has built up around about it based on the totally bogus Rita Mae Brown screenwriting credit. It's true that Brown wrote a satirical slasher script and that is the origin of this film, but it's completely untrue that any of her script survived and is in this film. This shit happens.
