THE Erasmus-advertisement-movie! ;-) If you did not want to go abroad before, after that movie you really want to!

A good movie in spite of itself. There's too much voice over, the main character isn't as likeable as he's supposed to be, and there are several points where the director uses stupid camera tricks which only serve to annoy. Even so it's an interesting trip through a young man's mind and experiences, and despite the over exposition it has some interesting things to say.

One of the best foriegn films I've ever seen, entertaining, real, complex, and keeps you interested.

Mildly interesting at its best bland and boring the rest of the time. At no part is this a comedy, just a bland light-hearted drama about a bunch of random European young people being flatmates.

Interesting film, this is. It begins and ends rather dull, yet (european) student-roommate life is quite good portraited. I missed other problems besides those which involve partner/member of a family. Doctor and his wife somewhat don't fit into plot very well. Otherwise it's worth watching. Certainly it's good "ad" for erasmus, yet itself it isn't of great importance for storyline.

A tepid celebration of narcissism. Witheringly tame and unfunny. Special mention go to the "saying that Barcelonas ghettos are filthy is racist" -> /"let's not talk about Spain's social problems, because this is a co-production" /"women want to be taken by force even when they say no, I know this as a lesbian" / "let's be tolerant of homosexuals!" -> "hyuck hyuck, the jackass has to pretend he's gay!" segments; I can usually tolerate this stuff, but in this case it was blatantly hypocritical.

I was lured in by Audrey Tautou's presence, but was terribly disappointed.

Sitcom look at “finding your people” has been done much better in many other similarly themed films – this one manages to be dull and bland (some (shock) “cat’s away” sleeping around is the extent of the scandalous behaviour here), while being undercut with some rather more shockingly tasteless sequences involving social mores (the less said about the lesbian’s advice on how to deal with women, and it’s aftermath, the better). At least it’s attractively shot, and the cast is good natured.

It might have the benefit of opening up the younger set to more subtitled European films, as it's one of the most accessible productions for the MTV-generation since Run Lola Run.

Does capture the Erasmus experience rather well, but is a bit on the nose at times.

Naive and cliched, but fun piece of European Union propaganda.

A fun script which really makes the lead character live through a huge array of experiences, relationships and emotions - that's what makes this a compelling film. Full of beautiful places, beautiful people, and sympathetic characters, and Klapisch's very precise and elaborate montage sequences also add a touch of flair, making this feel like a labour of love. The passage of time is handled well and by the end you really feel you have lived a whole year of this man's life. A nostalgic delight.

Possibly my enjoyment of this stems from the extent to which I was able to relate to various situations. The beginning and end are quite weak, but the middle is meaty and delicious.

Klapish's style both visually & narratively make L'Auberge Espagnole an entertaining, albeit flawed, film. The plot is just a collection of banal events, but Duris' performance as an emotional & needy 25-year-old discovering the world is enough to keep it watchable. Actually, the entire cast make the film worthwhile. The film presents Barcelona in a grimy light while still romanticizing it, and some of the subject matter is non-ideal and less than poignant, but there's a mild charm to it all.

Amazing story....the global feel of the plot is really inspiring. Romain Duris is great and so is the story! Plus it has a rom-com factor also. You will end up watching both its sequels.

Starts off a bit gimmicky, but then it settles into a very winning groove indeed. The narrator reminds me of Leaud from the Antoine Doinel films, as well as Garri Kasparov. There are a few moments of (over)sensitivity, typical of the "tolerance" we see a lot of nowadays, but soon those pass. Interesting btw that Tautou would've taken on such a thankless role. The finale does go a bit over the top; I liked him better when he was just some kid in college, not the Embodiment of Western Europe.

Very charming despite its stereotypes. As someone who's lived in three different countries over the past few years, this definitely hit home.

beklentimin cok cok altında cıkan Romain Duris abimin yuzusuyu hurmetine izleyip yine gotunu acar mı acep diye dusunurken tas gib hatuna yine caktıgı ama Gatlif baba filmlerindeki gibi dal daşşak dolaşmadığı vasat eglencelik bir film.
