The Spanish Gardener

Have extremely mixed feelings of this film. On one hand it is so sincere and innocent that it's impossible to despise the narrative, nor the admittedly overly simplistic direction taken with character motivations. Unfortunately though, I truly believe this to be both Dirk Bogarde's & Jon Whitely's worst onscreen performance. Both of them seem to deliver lines in the most deadpan of ways,Jon is especially guilty of this. Although this is in colour the environments are dreary, absolutely insipid.
