Lang directs confidently from early crosscutting as the story begins to effective action sequences.lively camerawork bolstered by detailed sets particularly once the action moves to the hidden city& secret treasure caverns. a bold, good-looking early film.fast, jam-packed with action, loaded with engrossing, exotic sets, and gives hints of the work Lang was about to do.not as thematically deep or gritty as you might expect of Lang, but its pulpy fun by way of Fritz Lang and I mean hell yeah.

Starts off pretty decent but the second half isn't nearly as good.

Very pretty but stiff pulp adventure fair from the start of Lang's career. A fancy mansion, big temple sets, and the outdoors aesthetically presented with great lighting (a chiaroscuro campfire here, a silhouetted ridge there). It would all make for some great book covers or movie posters.

Its moral and cultural depictions are primitive and probably ethnocentric, but there are several effective sequences of thriller intrigue and early cinematic ingenuity.
