Very funny children's film with a terrific soundtrack that caters more towards the adult stoner crowd than the kiddies. There are some great celebrity voices here, best of which is Alec Baldwin's bad-ass Dennis, who gets a lot of laughs. The live-action stuff works well, and Hasselhoff is just awesome. Wish they made them like this more often -- I can't think of another kids show on television now that has this kind of wit.

SpongeBob fans will probably enjoy this one; I did :-) Like the show's episodes, there are truly hilarious moments mixed in with more juvenile humor (a few parts were, I felt, a bit more crude than necessary) but overall it's plenty of fun. It holds together great as a feature length film, too, without seeming like one stretched out episode. There's plenty of weirdness, but lots of fun for fans.

There's definitely something to SpongeBob. It's pretty clever but like some others, it never really caught on with me. This is a decent flick with some intelligence for children and adults.

I love SpongeBob and his epic adventures with all his friends. This show was a staple of my childhood and this movie was fantastic. I still have as adult so much SpongeBob memorabilia and it seems even cooler now as adult. No slowing down for this franchise.

I hate SpongeBob. I think the show is making children dumber, but I saw this film anyway. I was surprised to find myself laughing from time to time, but even so, it was pretty stupid. It's gets bonus points for David Hasselhoff's part, but overall, it's just too damn obnoxious! Ugh!

It’s decently enjoyable for the first two acts (see the meta opening, the goobers at the no-bubble bar, the invincible heroes bouncing through the monster trench), but in some places it feels a little lacking of that zany SpongeBob spark (the bland plot and unmemorable king and princess characters don’t help). The wacky and perfect third act certainly makes up for it though, with its devastating dry death, miraculous escape to the Hasselhoff butt boat, and wild and fun rock and roll climax.

I think this could have been a lot better considering the show improved over the years. Of course the show is disgustingly bad now but I'm talking about pre-2004. Anyway, the songs are cute and kids will love it. The humor isn't too childish so most teens and adults will at least find it watchable.

The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie is a feature-length episode of the television show that you either love or hate. If you like the show, you'll enjoy the movie. If it irritates you to no end, then it'll continue to do that, too. It has the same type of humor, the same characters, and an extended plot which sees SpongeBob and Patrick go on an adventure to eventually prove that kids are cool. It's not boring, but it's almost strictly for children or people who were fans of the show as children.
