Not necessary if you've watched the docu-series, which is superior.

Although this (or really, the appeal itself more than the film) succeeds in exposing problems to do with the way expert witnesses are used in the justice system, in fact no exculpatory evidence is presented, and the focus on the emotions of Peterson and his children is rather one-dimensional, unbalanced and a bit dull. My view on the guilt or innocence of Peterson remains unchanged, and I actually think it is fairly clearcut, and for this reason his sufferings are only of limited interest.

The misconduct that is revealed in this doc is tragic. The film (or, if you will, episodes 9 and 10 of the Netflix version) isn't (/aren't) as tight and edge-of-your-seat-inducing as the original series, but, of course, a must-see for anybody who enjoyed it.

Not as captivating as the original mini series, but a good piece of work in it's own right.

Interesting documentary. The coverage is heavily weighted in pushing you towards believing in the man's innocence but there are an awful lot of doubts left hanging in the air.I guess the only person who knows for sure is Michael Peterson

Serves to update the viewer about what's happened in the Peterson case since The Staircase, but doesn't do much more. This second movie is a much more conventional, journalistic work tending toward the "one man's fight for justice!" type of storyline. And Peterson himself is much less compelling in this role. I guess it's still better than most documentaries of its kind, but it's really just a coda for the first film.
