The Story of O

Quite possibly Jaeckin's most visually impressive film, a delirious rush of high-brow aesthetics and eroticism, lush costumes, sets and framing. Unfortunately its all ruined by an essentially retarded narrative, all the men in this film are either ugly, intellectually uninteresting or just pathetic, hardly worth being submissive for. I guess I prefer my sadomasochistic softcore with a more 'leather-femdoms-crushing-testicles' flavour. Terayama's 'Fruits Of Paradise' is a better take on the tale.

Boooooring

Middle part drags a bit, but in the end it's a terrific erotic film and Corinne Clery is fantastic.

Visually the aesthetics are great, the artistic element of costumes and scenaries also, the cinematography look with that oniric look. But the story is boring, it looks random, I mean, even being open-minded with the topic I just couldn't follow the characters and their changes and evolution because most of the times, nothing happens. I'm quite sure the book is not like that.

Malgré un rythme souffreteux et une histoire à rallonge plutôt répétitive ; de nombreuses scènes sont réussi et la misogynie complète du récit est suffisamment dérangeante pour retenir l'attention.
