The Story of Robin Hood

No matter how many different versions of the Robin Hood story I see, this version will always remain my favourite. A classic retelling, with humour and poignancy and an absolutely first class Robin Hood in the underrated Richard Todd. An all-round really good film.

Just good old simple, colorful, merrie entertainment. That while offering nothing really outstanding is a perfectly adequate adventure movie.

Apart from actually being filmed in Sherwood Forest, Disney's live-action adaptation of Robin Hood struggle to capture that authentic Robin Hood spirit. Some playfulness, and James Robertson Justice as Little John wasn't exactly a bad choice, but there were many poor choices as far as casting went. Especially among the bad guys. Perfectly serviceable adaptation, but there does seem to be a lack of vision to make it among the more memorable versions of this age old tale.
