80s horror kills a bunch of Millenials. A fog machine terrorizes an empty trailer park. I was brought back from hating this completely by a Jim Steinman soaked final act.

The Strangers: Prey at Night is the type of movie that has no reason to exist except in hopes of capitalizing on a decade-old movie with the intention of making a few dollars. It's a generic-as-can-be movie that winds up just being a worse version of its predecessor. It's not scary because it has weak characters and lacks a strong sense of atmosphere. The acting isn't bad, but pretty much everything else about it is. It's a good thing it's barely over 80 minutes long.

Not as terrifying as the original, but it still has a few genuinely scary moments. The nod to TCSM at the end was neat and that pool scene was bonkers. Soooooo good.

Not particularly good, but at least the action parts benefit from the change of scenery. A bunch of killers murdering around a trailer park is less horrifying than a house, but a bit more lending towards jump scares.

Bare bones survival horror done well. Complaints mostly overblown. Has usual SurvHorror tropes, corny fam characters, victims with shitty peripheral vision etc. But those are genre standard. Ending not great but ive seen worse. First film better, but not by miles. I would recommend, worth it. I have seen a lot worse than this, and this actually entertained.

The first one is about the destruction of a modern relationship and this one is about the destruction of the modern family. It doesn't have a kill scene as scary as the mama tried one from the first but the pool scene is gorgeous and just my favourite look for a film. There's a nod to TCSM at the end and that's fitting given how related these two series are (rural/pastoral aesthetics substituted for neon 80's vibe). The Strangers obviously has less to say but it's still great.

I don't think I liked the first one as much as everyone else, but I am thinking I like this one more than everybody else. It is one bad decision after another (who goes on an overnight trip & picks their kid up on the way out of town?). But the quick run time and the last couple of showdowns made it watchable.

I thought it was decent. Just a straightforward survival horror movie. There was probably only one moment that scared me, but it had several creepy and tense ones. I thought the cinematography was really nice - I enjoyed looking at a lot of the shots. Some of the acting let things down, and I was annoyed at some of the characters' actions. Mostly though, I found it to be a fun ride.

First, Madison is fantastic in this, hopefully she gets more roles. Second, like the original this gives me fleshed out characters who have their own problems well before the horror starts which is what I like. Unfortunately, Madison's character is a lifelike teen whose early displays of "F-k you I'm not loved enough" make her very annoying. It also seems to be mimicking the 1st film too much, but then the 2nd half just gets better & better taking very unexpected turns for an apparent franchise.

I'll let it pass because despite any criticisms I had I was certainly not bored. They leaned a little too heavily into pop songs, even though sometimes that worked well. It does have some memorable scenes that don't quite hit the level of the first but what's up with Sack Head breaking its own internal logic at the end? I actually enjoy the final moments, but leading up to that, poorly played. The first was kinda scary but this wasn't, though I still enjoy people creeping around in masks.

It wasn't bad and it certainly wasn't as bad as most people seem to think. I mean it comes nowhere near the heights of the first film and there are some dumb decisions being made both by the characters and the director. I was not a fan of the finale. Honestly I think this was a fairly decent and entertaining slasher film that is a sequel in name only.

Ew, no. This film doesn't deserve Christina Hendricks or to be connected to the original Strangers movie.

The first movie was forgettable outside of a few scenes and the ending. A decade later, I'll say that the sequel is far more memorable, largely for bad reasons. Laughably trope-drenched, a waste of its atmosphere, and more entertaining to mock than to consume. (Positive) highlights include the pool scene, the 80's vibe, and the soundtrack. (Negative) highlights include killers becoming T-1000's, no care being given to continuity, and a popcorn-fart of an ending. Watch for laughs, not for scares.

I didn't see the first one. This isn't good and the writing is contrived and the characters are all lame ass cliches but one character calls another character a queef and that amused me quite a bit.

This just felt weird...aside from the strangers, there is no correlation to the first one. On top of that, in such an absurd way, the film ripoffs a lot of classic horror films. Namely Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The film also loses tons of realism. For something that was "based of a true story" it certainly doesn't feel that way considering some of the actions that take place. Honestly, I don't ever get super negative with film, I rarely rank films in the red, but holy fuck this sucked.

I'll be honest. I forgot to score this movie after seeing it and I dont remember much details. It was a fun movie I remember that. The kills were good. The soundtrack was a bop. But none of it stuck in my brain. It's not unique. It plays it safe. The ending was an idea I had for a horror movie back in 2012 so you know its not original. Worth streaming if you want something better than the usual streaming horror quality.

The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018) Sanıyorum çok beğenilmemiş, ama ben başarılı buldum. Gerilimi ve ters köşeleri ile izlenebilir. Slasher karakterleri hep salak kararlar verir, buna çok takılmamak lazım :) 7/10

Pointless. It's not that bad in the beginning but it looses steam halfway and the ending is just plain stupid.

One hour and ten minutes felt unnecessarily long for this prolonged playlist of suspenseful music. At least I appreciate that this is (hopefully) the ending of the franchise. Very bleak and disappointing. The backbone of the movie is villains being weird/creepy, literally nothing scary, gruesome or engaging. The bad dude gets supernatural survival abilities, which is the pinnacle of "based on true events".

If nothing else, Prey at Night is a handsomely made film. With lens flares that would make carpenter proud, the film boils with atmosphere. As the fog rolls between lonely street lights, you can't help but wish there was a little more meat on the bones. The neon and pop-synth doesn't quite cover up the mediocre home invasion story
