Murky, muddled Hammer horror is well and truly in the inferior 'fast and cheap' canon, rather than the (at least superficially) more refined gothic Dracula entries. As it is, effects and performances are passable, but the production lacks energy and fizzles long before its relatively brief running time is up.

A bit taxing even at 80 minutes but still rather gritty, graphic and grotesque from an early Hammer. Features real snake vs. mongoose fight.

Terence Fisher channels Roger Corman in this exotic turd.
