Sonny Chiba spits and hisses at bad guys before ripping them to shreds with his bare hands. It's classic fun, but not a great movie.

He rips off the balls of the one black guy in the film, no subtext here no sir.

Sonny Chiba takes on an entire karate dojo, rips out a man's nuts, and rips out another man's throat. In that order. Oh, he's hissing and making other goofy noises the whole time, too.

Unexpectedly violent and over the top, but pretty damn entertaining for an action movie. Chiba is hilarious and badass at the same time; those facial expressions are an unending source of hilarity and his barehanded ripping out of body parts has to be seen to be believed.

Chiba has amazingly hilarious facial expressions, I wish he never stopped fighting. Those fighting scenes are the bomb, in the dojo and on the ship. Plus he rips out a guys nuts, which is, ofcourse, fucking neat. Wish I could do that. Also pretty funny, those overly dramatic acting bits, it's so bad that it's good

A celebration of hilarious kung-fu mannerisms, nonstop hand-to-hand mayhem and Mortal Kombat style fatalities. The story and characterisation are ridiculously stupid but at least it has some internal logic, mostly summarised by moral torpor and right of strength. The fights are well done and Sonny Chiba proves to be a lot more than just second rate Bruce Lee. He's as funny as he is ferocious. I will admit to a few good willed nostalgia points.

Chiba has fascinating screen presence; he lurches, gurns and hisses his way across the screen. It really is very curious, and somehow manages to not be entirely comical. His character is a complete bastard, which is refreshing in this type of film. The story is daft, but the grimy settings and investment by the players make this quite satisfying to watch. The fight scenes perhaps aren't as slick as those by the likes of Chan, Lee et al, but they are effective, and occasionally quite brutal. Fun.

I have a theory that Nicolas Cage based his entire acting style on Sonny Chiba's facial expressions in this movie

Our main character here is quite a bastard both literally and figuratively, and takes a standard martial arts movie plot and contorts it into something quite different, almost all derived from his interference into the other characters' lives. For every keeper of justice-type movie you have to have a scummy, brutal violent movie on the other end to balance everything out, and Street Fighter is one of those shining (as much as a pile of throw-up can glisten) examples.

Not much style when it comes to the action, but this is more than made up for with all of the ripped-out testicles and throats.

There is no finesse here, its the brutal ripping apart of ones enemies. Light on story, heavy on blood.

Grimy cinematography covers about 50 minutes of karate blends. Hidden angles and suggestive shots allow for graphic removal of organs in a believable fashion. Sonny perfects his lamaze technique prior and after and during combat. Nice touch dropping some era-funk in his successful moments.

I can forgive all the poor special effects and choices with regards to how the special effects are handled for the simple fact that it is implied that a man's genitals are ripped from his body in one of the fights. Bravo. fight choreographers, bravo.

The breakthrough of Japan's top martial arts star, Sonny Chiba, and the blueprint for many action movies to follow, The Street Fighter has an urban crime setting and its karate is distinguished by dirty tactics and unmitigated brutality. The plot is useless - unfortunately that too is a seminal feature of the film - and the fights are nowhere near as pretty as in Hong Kong's wuxia cinema, but if you want to see skulls cracked, limbs snapped, and various organs ripped out, this can't be beat.

Gets by largely on its scenes of rather extraordinary brutality (every conceivable body part is removed from a body at some point), and Chiba does the stone-faced tool of vengeance to rival Bronson and Norris, but the plotting of this seems needlessly dense and confusing when it appears the film-makers (and audience) are really only here for a rompin' rampage. Well crafted and to be commended for its creativity in the brutality and definitely something of a genre landmark.

More bloody than violent and other than seeing Sonny Chiba beat on people there's not much of interest. The story is stupid, the whole thing is terribly acted and it takes itself much too seriously to be all that funny.

Extremely complex plot carried along by basic stereotypes - sounds like a Bond film! Best scene is Terry picking his dead friend's nose.

Fairly typical older style martial arts V gangsters pic. A bit gorier than some. Sonny Chiba does his best Bruce Lee grimacing a bit too much but Lee was the in-thing at the time. Having said that, it is the onscreen presence of Chiba as the morally questionable hero that elevates this above run of the mill. Basically genre fans only but it is above average in its class.

Em honra do grande Sonny Chiba (1939 - 2021). Acho que Chiba levou a um outro patamar o "fazer justiça comas as próprias mãos", estarei eternamente traumatizada dele arrancando bolas e rasgando gargantas com os próprios dedos. BlurayRip VXT.

I generally consider the PSI here to be close to infallible, but in this case I might have a better indicator whether anybody would like this: https://youtu.be/ssr_uAPmAE0 If the above scene is in any way (why are they all standing around? This is nonsense! What the fuck is Chiba’s face doing) the bad kind of ridiculous to you, skip this one, if you thought this was awesome, greater things (as well as some highly problematic other stuff - I.e. the one black character is a serial rapist) await
