Fun, mindless action with Tom Berenger kicking ass in a city where the discovery of dead bodies raises no more questions than finding candy wrappers on the ground.

This cast is so absurd. Tom Berenger, Luis Guzman, Mark Anthony, Ernie Hudson, William Forsythe, that lady who played Al Pacino's wife in Heat. Also, Tom Berenger chokes a man with such force that he farts.

One of my favorite B-action movie series. They just get trashier as the series goes on but they're always a good time.

A fucking crazy mix of inspiring inner city teacher movie and macho 80s action bullshit (made in the 90s!). How had I never heard of this before I randomly stumbled upon it on Hulu the other week? This shit is hilarious.

I liked the idea, and the plot was mostly fine (other than not protecting the actual teacher), and most of the action was good; but there were many points in the action that should not have been left to luck.

About a retired special forces operative who goes undercover as a substitute teacher to wage his own private drug war against high school students, their corrupt principal, and a Native American cartel. It is exactly as preposterous as one might expect, but any movie featuring students being hurled out of library windows and rocket-propelled grenades being fired in school hallways has to inspire some sort of perverse entertainment value.

Now that I am a teacher, I can say definitively that this is more accurate than Mr. Holland's Opus or Freedom Writers. Fuck all that inspirational crap.

Passes the time.

totally satisfying for us b-movie junkies. its got an outlandish, ridiculous plot. its got plenty of violence and squibs. there's not a good acting performance to be found in the whole thing and speaking of "actors" ernie hudson is an evil cop/principal/drug dealer! non b-movie fans shouldn't even glance in the direction of this slag however.

Serious drama on screen fart, have never seen happen before. That's what The Substitute brought to the table. I'm weak for these crappy "URBAN" HIGH SCHOOL GONE BAD with 35 year old high schooler movies.

It felt like an 80's film. Minimal flair yet still difficult to believe. Decent idea though, and as it turns out a pretty decent film.

Cut out 20 mins and you'd have a neat little thriller

Wife saw clips of this on Facebook or something, so we had to watch it. Classic B-action movie formula, done rather well. And Tom Berenger came off hard. Wasn't expecting much going in, but I've seen this shit done a lot more cheesy before, so I appreciate that they took it as serious as they did.
