In 1858 France, Emperor Louis Napoleon sends Captain Renault , Minister La Roche and Major Nicolet to Normandy in search of the members of a group of rebels. A Masked Cavalier, the niece, Lady Christianne, of the Marquis De Montableau, announces at a secret meeting of the Normandy underground leaders that the fabled treasure of Monte Cristo was willed to her and she will use it to finance their cause.

The first film to use SuperCinecolor. Looks fairly good. I do love swashbucklers, but I wouldn't put this one above just serviceable. Something about it was a little off. Didn't utilize what it had to best use, and George Montgomery was sounding way too much like Clark Gable's Rhett to get the feel of this Napoleon III-era costume affair. I did like William Conrad's contribution, and this was lively at times. With a stronger climax I would have appreciated it more.
