The Taming of the Shrew

While this was pretty slapstick I never would've known this was a Shakespeare adaptation if it wasn't for the title.

Surprisingly, Griffith's most slapstick heavy comedy is a Shakespeare adaptation. Florence Lawrence throws much more amusing tantrums than Arther V. Johnson; it's a pity his get most of the screen time.

D.W. Griffith's 1908 adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew is definitely one of his funniest Biograph pictures. More Keystone then Shakespeare!
