David Cuevas is a true family man. He works as a tax collector for the biggest gang leaders in Los Angeles. He sees to it that people are paid everywhere in the city, otherwise severe sanctions will follow. He works with his partner Creeper. However, a danger from the past threatens to jeopardize everything David loves.

It has its moments. This came across as try-hard in a lot of ways, with an attempt at gritty dialogue that doesn't really land or bring anything to the table. Ayer CAN write (Training Day was endearingly over-the-top) but he didn't bring much of a flair to this, and that's where the movie fails. Plot points are just thrown in there, it goes for a religious angle too but it's so cheesy. I like Shia but I don't buy him as this character (nothing to do with the "brownface" controversy)

This violent drama is watchable but really lacking in any character development.

Instant cult classic. A man gotta splash some water on his face before addressing the dead body in the room.

One good scene, and a ton of poor ones. All the dialogue in the car is terrible, both in terms of writing and acting. And LaBeouf is still a weak performer, after all these years. This is a bad movie.

This is really not that bad. The Tax’s Collector’s biggest issues are actually kind of fun. Shia LeBeouf’s performance is funny, good and bad. The dialogue in certain sequences is hilariously bad, but it’s funny too. Its worst parts are still entertaining though. I actually like what they did with the story, and the main character’s arch. Its action is intense, it’s brutal, and it’s emotionally devastating within it’s context. This is not perfect, but its reception is way overblown.

Kartellerde yanar. Uyuşturucu tahsilatı yapan 2 adam, diğer çetenin tahsilatına karşı savaşmak zorunda kalır. Ailesini korumaya çalışan David, diğer yandan içinden çıkılmaz 1 savaşa düşer. Polissiz macera. İlk yarım saat tanışma faslı ile geçerken son 1 saat aksiyona doyuyoruz. Seksi kızlar, bol çatışmalı sahneler iyi. Filmin sonunda, intikam alınıyor. Düştüm mapus damlarına öğüt veren çok olur.

"Two-hander ride-along through gangland" is to David Ayer what slapstick was to Chaplin.

It's not bad per se but a little bit more of a tight direction and shaving of some subplots would have improved it overall.

I wish I could give this a negative number. It's long one hour and thirty minutes, which is one hour and thirty minutes too many. Everything in The Tax Collector is awful, it solely relies on the blood and gore. The main character is so bland, you kinda root for him to fail throughout the movie. Shia LaBeouf getting tattoos specifically for this film, where he [SPOILER] dies abruptly without any character development beside the excessive use of the word "fool" is... foolish.

I really don't think this movie is as bad as reviews make it seem. Sure it is heavier on the violence then it is at filling in the gaps. It glosses over a lot of the more intriguing aspects of the film to focus on the hyper violence it uses to propel the film forward. It had potential to be better but it's also not the bottom like many claim. Soto and LaBeouf are both believable, Shia definitely getting into his character moreso than most. Its middle of the road but worth a watch none the less.
