The Terror of the Tongs

Beyond the fact that the British hero was painfully naive about organized crime I found it very enjoyable.

This was fun in a goofy way but let's be honest this wasn't good.

Considering the crazy plot and the presence of Christopher Lee, I thought this might be one of the hidden gems from Hammer Horror. But it's pretty amazing how uninteresting it is. I felt most engaged when I was pondering the inherent racism and sexism of the film itself.

If one looks over the troublesome "Caucasians playing Asians" and the overall problematic orientalism of this..... I can understand why some won't touch this movie with a ten feet pole because of that.... this is a rather well paced simple enjoyable old school, tho for the time pretty violent, adventure movie. Bushell's, who is mostly know as an actor, direction is serviceable but quite static, making this not one of the more memorable Hammer films.

Interesting.

I don't usually judge classics that harshly, but this movie is just awful in every way
