The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Gruesome, unpleasant, and completely ugly. Totally hollywood and fake. Does a half-way decent job building suspense and tension. Follows the same plot line as almost every other horror film, predictable. If you are really interested in the story, i'd say go to the movie store and rent the original.

what I loved most about it was its visuals and reliance on suspense, tension, and simple scares. The film has blood, and when it comes, it hits hard, but it is not always present in the film.

More screaming than any other movie..... so go give that bubblegum teenager some acid and send them to the asylum!

Had some good stylish imagery. Original is far better.

could totally do without

The first half wasn't as good as the original movie, but it was doing alright still. Passable at least, even if there seemed to be no efforts in making anything look period accurate. But then the last 1/3 of the movie was just repetitive and grew old fast. It was even disappointing, the way chainsaw dude wasn't doing much of anything beside failing.

I get why this would be people's thing but it is 1000% not mine. A fine update for what it is though.

Scariest movie I've ever seen!!

A good movie of its genre. Nice kills and the constant sense of panic makes it a must-see.

Average modern horror flick.

the original was better, much grittier

Nowhere near as good or innovative as the original, but still a competent, creepy thriller with a slick look.

Awful! How could anyone remake a classic? The only part of this film I liked was the beginning with the female hitch-hiker and R, Lee Ermey's performance is so great, I'm truly disgusted by him. The rest of the film is dire!

Truly sucktastic. Cliche horror film, not scary, storyline sucks. The only interesting part is the intro.

Good Re-Make....

Shockingly decent. Doesn't compare to the original in terms of suspense and atmosphere but it delivers on violence and horror. Hey, it's a fun movie, too.

Another film constrined by the probability that the censors would ensure it never got shown if it did what it needs to do to work - show the unremitting gore and the horror - psychological as much as physical - which the real killers on which this story is based inflicted on the victims. Not helped by some fairly bad performances. Not too bad for a Saturday night popcorn-and-gore fest, but ultimately disappointing.

For a remake, it's not that terrible. I still say go with the original though.

Way better than the original... It actually manages to introduce elements of horror instead of boredom.

Crap remake of an excellent movie...

I didn't even finish this movie. That's how much I didn't like it.

I spaced out for most of this movie. The original thrived on its low budget and craaazy characters. This movie thrives on jessica biel's breasts.

It was too slick and inauthentic. I didn't believe for one second that I was watching the 1970s. They did get Leatherface right though, and R. Lee Ermey is always a treat. It was better than 3 and 4, so that is something I guess.

For as unneeded as it may be, this is genuinely a solid remake compared to most of its kind & does a surprisingly good job of paying respect to the original. Leatherface showing his face was bleh, the characters are pretty dull- Erin included- & there's way too many cannibal people. But, the ending is pretty cool & there are some effective moments throughout. It doesn't waste any time, & the lack of soundtrack was appreciated. It is different from the original, & that counts for something.

It didn't need to be made and I hated the new ending. So, why the 50? Jessica Biel.

I was on a quest to see every theatrical release that came to my city because I worked for the only theater chain in town and could see movies for free. This basically cured me of doing that.

Well, its a remake of famous horror movie. The director has make it to look like as really long music video with some cool homicide elements. Mostly to teenagers oriented movie shows effectively how teens hanged up like meat.

Awful.

I strongly reccommend the original. Maybe I'm just hard to scare, but I found the remake boring.

the only reason i'm scoring this movie so high is beacuse of jessica biel's butt. that was the best part of the whole movie.

best thriller!

Marcus Nispel remakes one of the greatest horror films of all time. And I loved every blood drenched moment of it. This was a great re-make R Lee Ermy is excellent, and even though you know what is coming there are some parts that are surprising. Done incredibly well and making sure not to upstage the original just dust it off and give it a facelife. In fact, it makes you want to watch the original again and then watch this again. Back and Forth. Excellence.

A good remake with a story that keeps you watching.
