At a remote Arctic research station, four ecology students discover the real horror of global warming is not the melting ice, but what's frozen within it. A quick-breeding, super-resilient variety of CG killer insects with the potential to wipe out the entire human race in a matter of days is discovered in the tasty carcass of a woolly mammoth preserved in the ice for thousands of years. Wait. If this bug was so strong, why didn't it wipe out all life on Earth 10,000 years ago? Because Global Warming.

Just because wooly mammoths are all dead doesn't mean you can desecrate their memory like this. Show some respect.

Extremely stupid movie but an interesting concept that is actually based on reality, just too bad it's completely destroyed by a typical horrible hollywood horror movie script, actors, story, moronic actions etc, but people who hate the movie because of the so-called "political propaganda" are if possible even dumber than the characters in this movie.

This wants very badly to be The Thing. Sorry, but not quite. The setting and mood manages to be fairly desolate/creepy and might even somewhat save this movie for you if you're really into that kind of thing (I kind of am), but the plot is really fucking stupid. Val Kilmer seems to be pretty obsessed with the global warming thing lately and rather than being an inoffensively mediocre horror flick, this appears to be pushing an agenda (just like The Steam Experiment did).

Very generic but not terrible cross between "Splinter" and "The Thing". The bugs and the idea work well but the directing and over use of propaganda didn't help matters.

I'm sorry but i genuinely don't get the hate this gets lmao. It's pretty decent for what it is! Like, yes it's generic and quite stupid, but it works in my opinion. I didn't care for the "villains", and the characters are all completely hollow (as expected for the type of horror film it is), but that didn't stop it from being entertaining and having some nice moments and a good atmosphere. I can't believe there are people complaining about the movie's "propaganda" lmfaooo, DIMWITS.

Mediocre bug horror light-sci fi speculates on "unknown unknowns" of climate change in more tangible representation of humanity's hubris. (Particularly apropos stand-in for chain-reaction of methane escaping from glaciers). The film yields greater meaning & much more fascination by context. The representation 10 years ago of a society ignorant & dismissive of simple scientific facts holds today. It's final thesis made all the more poignant as dipshits whine about "political propaganda"

I find myself screaming two things lately, "Why are you fighting me?" and "How did you fail?" The first applies to digital interfaces and the second to project and program managers. Whoever managed this one had all of the ingredients of a blockbuster but blew it like a $2 rentboy or streetwalker by making a boring, "atmospheric," and tense and ominous movie without a sense of adventure, back when that stupid millennial trend first dawned. I see no reason to watch a movie like that.

could have ramped up the body count and the gore, but otherwise it was a pretty decent parasite flick. the scenes with the bugs are scary enough--it's just that there are too few of them.

I enjoyed this film. The political stuff was a little much, but generally well shot and well acted.

Very bland boring and slow. Not a whole lot of suspense, horror or gore. The vomit scenes were kind of disgusting and I really liked the role that Val Kilmer played even though he had very little screen time. But this movie is so predictable. I've seen many movies like this except that this wasn't as good.
