A time travel experiment that was supposed to produce a window into time turns out to be a portal instead. It's all so damn plain looking, plainly acted and, plainly put, boring. Those androids would've given me nightmares if I'd seen this as a kid. There's a goofy charm in the stage-magician style "special effects", but that's about it. Also it will take some time getting used to MST3K_2K17. ...That honestly wasn't supposed to be a dumb pun regarding the movie title and I should ideally just delete this entire sentence but I won't for reasons I don't quite understand myself.

It's interesting. This movie gestures vaguely at deep and complex concepts, issues of prejudice and relationships and the complicated politics that crop up around issues of pure survival, but isn't especially interested in actually exploring any of them. This is the kind of movie you might enjoy if you're good at spinning worlds beyond what's on-screen.

Full of awkward moments. Like when you dead on recognize Oskar Fischinger's sound/light installation the Lumigraph in a groovy bar makeout scene. Or you awkwardly see Vilmos Zsigmond in the credits as the cinematographer, and try not to make eye contact, like when you accidentally see your mom at a dive bar. Or you check the dates and see the ideas for Lost in Space and Star Trek: Space Seed may have been cribbing this, like when you escape the bar you wonder if your dad really is your dad.

It's got some really cool ideas, but for the most part it's dull and the majority of the film just drags on and on. It also doesn't help that most of the actors are boring and it's shot in a manner that seems dead set on emphasizing how damn cheap it all looks. The MST3K episode that goes with this one is pretty solid.

Ununnilium has it right saying that if you imagine beyond just whats on screen your imagination can take the movie as a base and create a truly interesting world. The concept is good, familiar enough to scifi fans, and though i wish the ending came right when the characters stepped into the black there's still enough mild ambiguity to it. Unfortunately the characters are all flat, the humor is out of place, and the direction is terribly unexciting and bland. The trippy musical bit was too long

A premise with potential ruined with flat characters, dull pacing, and a complete dud of a script. One of the least directorially daring films I've seen, as well.

Even with consideration for being made in 1964, this movie is full of boring hokey silliness. In particular, they could make an android look perfectly human except for its pollywog face. A transporter to travel across the room? Too bad mans last hope for survival is shattered by a bunch of skin head mutants fighting with clubs and knives. I guess the future people forgot to make some guns. Music is annoying. The fast forward section at the end was bad.

Moderately not terrible, but still a pretty decent MST3K send off.

Perfect one for what it is. Fun sci-fi schlock.

"Holy McKee!" Unfortunate stabs at humor of the "wah-wah-WAH" variety, and Franken is only marginally less annoying than Dropo on Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. Lethargic fight sequences too, but at its best the flick manages a cut-rate Forbidden Planet atmosphere. Recurring melody line pinched from "See You in September." Unexpectedly cool sequence: the future chick's keyboard cadenza. Completely unnecessary final montage (I suppose they were trying to blow our minds, but...). "Be well." :)

Pretty awful in every way, though I'm sure watching it with MST3K makes it seem worse than it actually is. MST3K: 60

This is a bad film with a ridicules script. Some of the acting is also really bad in this movie. Overall I would say skip this one.

It's got some cool ideas, but it's not well-written enough to deal with the static camerawork and slow editing. Fun mutant brawl though.

An odd mixture of serious sci-fi with some interesting ideas and some really impressive special effects (considering the time and budget), and a dull plot with very ill-advised comic relief. Would much later be remade as a Doctor Who episode which is far better.
