They screwed up a great Stephen King story. Again. The only good thing I can say about this one is that it was great casting to have Traci Lords play the town hussy

Ties with The Langoliers as the worst Stephen King miniseries ever made. Despite the problems the novel had, there was at least a strong metanarrative concerning addiction and self-control. This was discarded in the movie in favour of laughably bad "sci-fi" action, which consisted mostly of poorly superimposed green flashes of light. The worst culprit of this? The lipstick raygun. Avoid this movie at all costs. You will regret it instantly if you do not.

Inexcusably cheesy even as far as 90s King miniseries go, but charming all the same. Forty, maybe fifty years ago I'm sure it would have inspired a cult following. Loved the evil soda machine (throwback to Maximum Overdrive perhaps) and the lipstick raygun.

Dire "horror film" makes the mistake of many a bad King adaptation by attempting to literally copy and ape King's distinctive literary style and approach - it just doesn't work on film, with much of the folksy dialogue and euphemisms rendered false and unconvincing, despite the efforts of a game cast (Smits is pretty good as the typically flawed King hero). Passably enjoyable for its first half, before the laughably bargain-basement effects take hold in the second half. Not a scare in sight.

I only watched this TV movie because it had Traci Lords in it, and it was more boring and pointless than I thought it would be. Endless shots of flashing green lights and people digging in the forest. I could barely stay interested long enough to see the ending.

Notable for being, in my estimation, the worst Stephen King adaptation in existence and getting close to being one of the worst films (I know it's technically a series) of all time. I have not seen Dreamcatcher at this juncture.

Not a particularly strong novel from King, don't expect a better viewing experience.

As others have said, it's scary if you're afraid of this particular, albeit unique, shade of green. Best for nostalgia and King fandom, watch it if you have 3 hours to kill.
