Enslaved black men and uppity rich white owners have never been so funny!

A rich white kid literally buys a black guy and delights in humiliating him. Despite the retarded (and blatantly racist) premise, Pryor actually wrings some decent laughs out of it.

What 6 year old in the 80's wouldn't watch this and wish someone would give him a foul mouthed comedian for his very own.

A childhood favorite. The rich kid's room is every kids dream and Richard Pryor is every kid's dream best friend. Imagine the shock when I watched a stand up routine shortly after seeing this flick.

Has stood the test of time to become, truly, one of the most racist pictures in the history of Hollywood. Awesome.

Cute, funny, and a decent story. The relationship between Schwartz and Pryor is touching to watch.

Asinine remake of the charming French film. Even Pryor playing a man besieged by debts can't save this slapstick mess.

Wow, Scott Schwartz really was a talented child actor before he became a porn extra. Who would have thought he was telling the truth?

In a way, if this had been an intelligent film, it could've masqueraded as family while being a satirical look at race in America and perhaps even a satirical take on slavery. Sadly, this is not an intelligent film.

One of Pryor's worst vehicles; just plain embarrassing.

Just a little racist. Not a lot, but just enough.

You get Jackie Gleason and Richard Pryor together...and you give them this project to pull off. Tsk, tsk.

Love this movie! One of Richard Pryor's best vehicles. Plus, the bonus of Jackie Gleason!

I really like Richard Prior's standup, but THIS is unbelievably awful. If you can find a DVD of him live, check it out, this is best left alone

Not Jackie Gleason's best work. Not Richard Pryor's best work. But overall, an ok movie. Wilfrid Hyde-White is always fun to watch. Remeber, this is a Pryor movie, so racisim is going to be included for humor.

If you were born in the early 80's and had HBO at some point during your childhood, you undoubtedly saw this multiple times...and loved every one of them.

This movie manages to wrap racism, sexism, classism, transphobia, pedophilia and slavery jokes all into one made-for-early-80s family experience with Richard Pryor as the babysitter (and teacher). Oh, and you'll see images of both the Klan and the Rebel flag.
