The Transformers: The Movie

Infinitely better than the rubbish recent offering. The soundtrack = BOSS

It has serious continuity problems, but it's so bad that it's worth watching.

Great for nostagia purpouses. But talk about crappy animation...and THE WORST soundtrack EVER! "YOU GOT THE TOUCH!!!"

Campy and absurd, but exactly what fans of the original series expect and love.

I may be giving this way too much credit, but it struck me as a really good example of the era.

a hour and a half of pure saturday morning cheese. Welles is the best thing in this movie too.

Astonishingly epic film about the Autobots and their struggles against not only the Deceptecons, but also Unicron, a planet-sized transformer that demolishes entire worlds. Superbly animated, especially considering the lack of any true CGI or other computer-assisted animation. One of the best movie soundtracks ever assembled, too.

This was my favorite movie growing up, but as an adult I realize that it has some flaws. I still enjoy most of the characters, the music, and the grand tale of good and evil. The animation is a bit weak, but still better than the original series. The pacing is probably the worst thing about the movie. Things just go so fast. Even to the point where things just don't make sense, like instantaneous space travel. Fun for fans, but if you're not into Transformers, you probably won't enjoy this.

This cartoon opens with an uncaring godlike being, snuffing an entire planet of peaceful sentient beings out existence, before switching into an upbeat hard rock song for the opening credits. Most metal cartoon ever. Plus: good and badguys are forced to work together against a common threat...but they don't! Thanks for that, and thanks for combining childhood trauma with spectacular visuals.

Despite its age (22 years at time of writing! Damn I feel old), this is a classic. Some people say the animation isnt the best, and its not Disney, but its a damn site better than the TV show. This "Rock and Roll adventure" is a must see, if only for the duel between Megatron and Prime. If you dont get goosebumps, you're a girl....
