Who knew scrapping last year's toy line and bringing in next year's toy line could profoundly affect a generation of youngsters? Optimuuuuuuuuuus!

God, I love this film. This film is my childhood, and it will always hold a place in my heart, but as I get older I view it in other ways, too. It may be very cheesy, but it is so in an almost satirical way. Like it's parodying itself. You can tell the writers wanted to be more adult, perhaps more like anime and less like a cartoon. This is evident in the ridiculous amount of beloved characters dying. It has pretty good voice acting and a fantastic soundtrack, too. Love it.

Entertaining action movie with great animation and some occasional moments of sheer brilliance. Annoying characters and occasional dips in animation quality stop it from being perfect, but it is close.

Childhood memories: going to the theater with my granny when I was 10 years old, buying popcorn and soda and sitting in anticipation for one of my favorite television shows on the big screen. Then watching half the characters I loved murdered savagely. This is a harsh film.

Imagine the collective squeals of thousands of nerds of all shapes and sizes when they find out The Transformers Movie has Charles Foster Kane, Spock, and the punk from The Breakfast Club providing voice work.

Transformers: The Movie proves how excellent Transformers are as entertainment for the now much older crowd that once loved them so. With a fairly serious tone to it, the movie excels in deepening the story of the robots in disguise while also bringing back all kinds of fun memories. Awesome!

If you have one of those DVD players that still has sound when you fastforward on 2x speed, this film is hilarious.

lmao, what the fuck is going on here? welles: "you know what i did this morning? I played the voice of a toy...i play a planet. i menace somebody called something-or-other. then i'm destroyed. my plan to destroy whoever-it-is is thwarted and i tear myself apart on the screen." and then he died. welles, that is. and unicron. both welles and unicron died. together.

Pretty good animation. I just wish there was more Optimus Prime. He's a badass. The soundtrack is so deliciously 80s and over the top, but it's silly fun. It is not without flaw, but overall this movie is extremely entertaining. I would have loved it as a kid.

I never watched the show as a kid, or even many other cartoons, but even so this immediately brought back the memories of those cartoons with it's cheesy 80s music, visual style and voice acting. So I can sort of see how it might trigger some people's nostalgia buttons. But it's still a terrible film with bad tedious plotting, horrid "comedy" and just very little going for it.

Every kid in the audience back then was going crazy up until Optimus died, and the realization set in. That's cinema magic right there.

Not as good as you remembered. If you remembered it being great, it'll be decent at best. If you remembered it being awful, it'll be complete garbage. Great for kids and those wanting a stroll down memory lane. You've got the touch!

one of the worst animation films ever to reach a broad audience... But somewhat a fitting last performance for Orson Wells playing a planet-sized world devouring robot... On the other hand... Perhaps it killed him...

This was marred by poor animation and a mediocre plot but it had the voice of Orson fuckin' Welles as Unicron and Leonard Nimoy as Galvatron which automatically kicks the score up a good 5 points above what it should be. It's a pretty underrated little gem.

You've got the touch. You've got the powerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. YEAH!!!!!! I still blast that song while driving down the highway, secretly hoping my car will transform. This film was much better than it deserved to be, and it still holds up today. I know it's for kids, but some of these characters get straight up murdered here. Nothing was worse than when Optimus died though. My poor 8 year old heart.

A rough movie if you've seen the original series. Half of the main characters from the show are gone by the first fifteen minutes of the film. Absolutely loved Generation 1 Transformers and this movie isn't bad. The animation improved as well as its dark tone and rating. Some of the new characters aren't as charming as people make them out to be. Still light years better than the Michael Bay movies.

I don't know much about the series, but I didn't expect a light strobe Queen concert for a whole film. Maybe the secret to '80s films is a thumping soundtrack and nonstop action. Ultimately the idea is stupid (really? A boombox?) but the stupidness is fixed with the music. Fav scenes: let's have a dance party in the middle of the film.
