There is a classic American story in there, but it's delivered half-baked. William Powell plays an old-timer. An idealist with his hypocritical faults, finding an unlucky kid played Tommy Ivo. And together they experience quite a lot. You can easily get lost in this, but at the same time you can't help feels it could have been a lot more effective at every turn. Pleasant all the way, but has the feel of something that should have been an all-time family classic, and wasn't.
