Joseph K. awakes one morning, to find two strange men in his room, telling him he has been arrested. Joseph is not told what he is charged with, and despite being "arrested," is allowed to remain free and go to work. But despite the strange nature of his arrest, Joseph soon learns that his trial, however odd, is very real, and tries desperately to spare himself from the court's judgement. (imdb)

Plodding and uninteresting version, with a vacuous central performance and listless direction.

Manages to keep the dark heavy atmosphere of Kafka but that's all. Or is it much enough? Funny to see A. Hopkins dominant on the front cover of the DVD when it's only an episode (although good) with him. Kyle MacLachlan is catching and persuasive here, in my opinion.

First of all... pardon me for blaspheming, everyone, but I like this version better than Welles's. That being said, I don't think this one works particularly well, either. I admit that I haven't read the book, but I bet that it's one of those books like _1984_ that just won't ever translate to film all that well

Watching this is like reading a far, far over dramatic and really boring book. The plot is ridiculous. I haven't read the book, but I imagine this story is suited far better in book form. It's somewhat interesting and has some absurdist elements, but that's not enough when it's overall done so badly. If you enjoy films that are all talk and no action, and that are pretentiously intellectual, then maybe you'll like this. I did not. Not awful, just unnecessary, boring and forgettable.
