Aside from a few inspired visual moments here and there this is remarkably dull. Part of it is my disinterest in the subject matter, certainly, but I think Fonda's boringness is a factor too.

I felt this did justice to what an LSD trip is actually like... sort of. Only problem is (like most acid stories) it's not all that entertaining unless you can relate, i.e. flashbacks, or are tripping yourself. It's good to know Jack Nicholson got down on doses though.

Bruce Dern was my favorite part in this, I loved his character. Most of the movie was equal parts tedious and fascinating.

Unintentionally comic youth exploitation film.

Really interesting editing here. It's got some really tight aspects, but then at moments, it seems to unravel. Bruce Dern, Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda are good. It's a poetic 'feel' sort of a film; if you go in expecting a good plot to gnaw on, you'll go hungry.

This drug exploitation picture is a complex juxtaposition of mesmerizing images and sounds, but can't be taken very seriously. Roger Corman finds the right tone but achieves poor narrative results. It's just not engaging as it should be.

Oversimplifies in some respects and is downright misleading in others. Kudos to them for trying, but tripping is an individualized, altered perception, multi-sensory experience that just can't be truly captured on film.

Never taken acid, so I've got no idea if this movie is close to a real trip. I am interested in effects of drugs, so that's why I watched it. The documentary The Spirit Molecule is better though, but about a different drug

my problem with it, as with most acid trip depictions in movies, is that it's way too simplistic. there's questionable choices all around, and the fact that the ending was shitty didn't help its case

This is one of the best films made about recreational drug use. It doesn't portray it as all sweetness and light, but it's generally very sympathetic without putting too much stock in the "it'll change your life" 1960's hooey. Jack Nicholson wrote the screenplay, and it has his fairly unstructured approach without being as totally out there as "Head". The really groovy score is by Mike Bloomfield's Electric Flag (and is one of the first instances of a rock band using a Moog on record).

Jack Nicholson writes and Roger Corman directs this valiant effort to cinematically recreate an acid trip, starring Peter Fonda. It uses every "psychedelic" effect known in 1967, and strings together a series of evermore imaginative dreamlike sequences. I think it is clearly surpassed by Gilliam's "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" in almost every respect, but it possessed the virtue of being timely, and remains an authentic and revealing product of its times.

This movie is very interesting to watch, and there's one funny scene, but that's about it. The story is about this guy who directs commercials, he decides to take some LSD for the experience. The rest of the movie is his trip, hence the title. It's a crazy movie, but of course, a trip would be crazy. This is probably a very accurate portrayal of a trip, so this is an interesting movie to watch in case you've ever wondered what a trip is like. Otherwise, I don't recommend watching it.
