The True Cost

It's an introduction to the topic. It's well-made in the sense that the word 'capitalism' is absent in the first hour not to repel a part of the audience. Then, the critique starts. Problem, this critique is milquetoast. There is no real focus on systemic issues (although they're mentioned), on trying to consume less, or on completely stopping producing in developing countries.

It's a good documentary about the rise of cheaply made clothing, has some shocking stories. A quarter million Indian farmers have committed suicide. In some areas 80% of the children suffer from mental retardation, probably due to chemical exposure. Was really eye opening. We need to fight for these people's rights too.

i appreciate the aim of this movie but you wont learn anything new if you are already interested on those topics. I think the whole documentary is great but it lacks deep in my opinion.

A documentary uncovering the filthy business of the fashion industry. Cold business of faceless companies.... who never show their face here. Which is where this film fails pretty bad. Totally one sided and no confrontations.

What you learn from this is skip the cheap stuff. Buy quality. The corporations and fashion industry have "convinced" us to believe that buying more is the way to achieve happiness when really all it does is burden us with more crap we don't need. This is worth a look.
