Muriel Box must be one of the most under-appreciated directors ever. Her films were exceptionally diverse, eons ahead of their time in terms of content and gender politics, and most are not available on streaming platforms or DVD which is a huge shame. This and 'The Passionate Stranger' are my favourites and are must-sees.

One man's many misadventures with women. Cleaner and more high-brow than it might sound. No implied feminism here. Pretty straightforwardly a male protagonist's perspective, but it's not exactly an indictment of women either. Box has a light touch as usual, and her humor is generally classy, although some of the drama is just weird (such as Sir Tavistock's tolerance toward an art collector oblivious to his mourning, etc); it's engrossing with no need for overt satire, and cast is great.
