It doesn't do anything new and in the end there aren't many scares, but The Tunnel was pretty effective in building a suitable atmosphere. The used locations are wonderfully creepy. Just a shame the antagonist didn't really have an impact, weakening the climax of the film. Also, the fake documentary approach undermines it a bit, making it clear who will survive the film. Would've been more gripping without that knowledge.

Oh god, I loved the part where the killer-thing broke the man's head off! (I swear I'm not a creepy serial killer, I just thought it was kinda a creepily awesome scene!) XD Also, while there were some really good parts, it was a little disappointing, and the acting/dialogue was pretty weak.

This movies really shows what a relatively low budget and a good setting can really do.

Gives me hope that I too could one day make a horror indie movie just by finding a creepy place to film in and screaming at shadows.

Aussie "Blair Witch" knockoff, with a dash of "The Descent," about people finding yak-faced evil in a subway tunnel. These things are getting done to death and collectively lost their sting some time ago.

I liked the characters here, they are well developed and interact realistically with each-other, which made them interesting to me. Sidenote, you can go to the website and purchase a frame of the film for a buck. That is a pretty cool way to fund-raise, but considering this is a horror film and takes place underground, a lot of frames will be completely black, which mine was; that is kinda lame.

Claustrophobic and scary, applying the found-footage trope in a highly effective way. Falls short in its application of a rather uninteresting documentary-format in what seems to be an attempt at diversifying itself from its (far superior) source of inspiration, REC. Nonetheless, in its own a well-made and enjoyable (as in terrifying) horror film.

Fun horror movie, surprisingly well done for a movie they were giving away for free. Makes you wonder if they can put this together and give it away what can they do with a real budget. The monster wasn't especially frightening but the running through the tunnels with something chasing them was awesome.

The monotone mockumentary interview dialogue destroys any sense of tension and suspense heavily dragging down an otherwise good film.

The film is worth it for the sense of claustrophobia it gives the viewer, as the first-person view runs around the tight tunnels. However, the documentary approach undermines the film, as it removes some of the tense moments that handy-cam scenes work hard at building.

It's reasonably spooky, but it's no [rec] or anything. I think their monster should have gotten a little more screen time, and I thought a few things were a little too unexplained. It's acceptable to have things that are logistically questionable in a supernatural movie like Blair Witch, but in a more realistic movie like this, I want some answers. I'd say this is a proficient found footage movie, but not a particularly outstanding one.

Film w popularnej ostatnio konwencji horroru kreconego z reki. Praktycznie zerowy budzet dal w rezultacie calkiem interesujacy obraz. Tunnel potrafi wystraszyc i do samego konca trzyma niezly poziom.

Najgorsze w tym filmie nie jest to ze nie straszy, wrecz przeciwnie - straszy i to bardzo ale kiepska gra, ktora zakloca i tak naciagana fabule. Niestety jedna z gorszych pozycji typu dokument-nawiedzone miejsce-krecone z reki.

First-person survival horrors usually owe a debt to The Blair Witch Project, but its influence on Australia's contribution is the heaviest yet. What it lacks in originality, The Tunnel makes up for in thought-provoking imagery; thoughts like "I can't see anything. What am I looking at? Is that a wall again?". Thankfully, when there's action the camera is always aimed at it, even when nobody's holding it. That the dialogue's main purpose is to state the obvious also keeps things clear.

Don't show us post-event interviews when the tension of this movie relies on who dies! Oof, that was not a good decision.

Blair Witch meets Descent. It tries so hard to show it is a 'real' documentary, but you still know it's all fake. Also the build-up takes too long. If you're into these kind of movies, I guess you will like it.

Pretty creepy and doesn't pull any stupid moves, but a little too uneventful and long-winded at the beginning and ends. Overall, okay.

A derivative but agreeable little horror tale that creates and maintains a perfectly respectable level of suspense on a small budget. Sign of the times -- this is a movie that the filmmakers themselves have made available for download, and they only ask for voluntary contributions: http://www.vodo.net/thetunnel

Does quite a lot with a relatively tiny budget. The setting is a good combination of decrepitude, narrow passages, and creepy creaks and groans. The filmmakers showed restraint in never giving us a clear view of the creature, making it all the more frightening. Yes, there aren't really any new ideas, yes, the documentary style turns out to be an unintentional spoiler, and yes, the camera always seems to be in the right place at the right time, but overall it builds a tasty mountain of tension.
