In New Orleans, a series of horrific murders of priests are occurring around the city's Catholic churches. The diocese calls in Father Michael to fight the powerful demon, known as Daesidarius, or The Unholy. The Father's faith is tested almost to the breaking point as the demon - disguised as a stunningly beautiful lady - attempts to seduce Father Michael into breaking his vows. They needed their priest to be more relatable so they had him not believe in the Bible. ??? There are some quick cuts to gore that work effectively towards the end before the nutso conclusion. There's also a night club that the priest waltzes into about six different times and it never feels right.

There's potential with a very interesting subject but somehow this movie became mundane and bland. The demon was quite seductive but why would any devoted priest fall prey to such an obvious temptress? The ending was a literal deus ex machina. Also pretty cool devil entrance in the alternate ending. Fav scene: final fight was quite epic.

For a low budget Special effects horror movie this was actually pretty damn good. I enjoyed the whole thing and never found it boring. Both the build up and the climax were well made for the budget.

This really feels like two films jammed together. There's a somewhat respectable seeming supernatural/religious mystery maybe along the lines of "Angel Heart" (which might explain the pretty prestigious cast), and an effects laden gory horror outing. They don't sit that well together, and really only the latter film works. This one's at it's best when it's throwing blood, boobs and rubber demons at the screen.
