Ingrid Pitt was God's first attempt to make Monica Bellucci.

Well-made later-Hammer horror movie. The ladies in the cast are absolutely gorgeous, too. I've never, ever seen a foxier group of females assembled for a movie. I'm tempted to get it on DVD just so I can drool over them all over again :-)

Difficult to rate b/c it's got a great opening, solid performances & direction w/ beautifully composed shots, but it would also likely seem slower & much less interesting if it didn't have so many arousing scenes. If not for the fact that Skinemax almost always means junk, the best way to describe this might be Skinemax for 1970. But that's misleading. It's a genuinely erotic & well-made vampire movie. Less pretentious but as good in its own way as Daughters of Darkness.

Horrible movie / great tit work from the ladies / way too much screeching

Well done gothic horror with many lurid moments which manage to maintain a sense of shock. Ingrid Pitt once again steals the show as the succubus whom drives the men wild and the women even wilder.

Not a lot of substance, granted, but perfect for necking at a drive-in (I'd imagine) or projecting at the foot of a bed (which is what we did.)

Dodgy acting and derivative storyline aside, there is enough cheese here to make it a fairly entertaining 90 minutes. Plus, y'know, if you're a fan of buxom vamps walking around wearing flimsy négligées, there's plenty of that to keep you interested. Ingrid Pitt is pretty good as the sapphic vampire, but for me the show was stolen by the deliciously cute Madeline Smith. The scenes between those two are quite something.

A shameless lesbian vampire flick from Hammer. While there are a few scenes that make you think they will explore the ideas of lesbian emotions, they are very and few far in between as Hammer was probably more interested in tits. If that's what you're looking for, you get plenty of that. It's a fun flick.

First in Hammer's 'Karenstein Trilogy' this is one of my favourites being my preferred area of the 'horror' genre... not actually that horrific, more an excuse for heaving (revealled) bosoms and vampirism as an obvious metaphor for sex and desire. Ingrid Pitt is good as Marcilla/Carmilla but the main attraction for me is the glorious Madeline Smith who, with this film, secured her place on the cover of the recent 'Hammer Glamour' book.

Quite a nice display of 1970s style breasts. Though the acting is a bit over the top Ingrid Pitt is pretty good as the lesbian, lustful vampire. Story is ok, nothing special. Watch it on a Friday night with some friends.

Much less opaque than Vampyr, basically a straight-forward adaptation of the story. That's the good and bad of it right there. It doesn't give us much personality outside of an eerie, lovely opening sequence, opting instead of check off the plot slavishly. I don't regret watching it, though, even bad Hammer is watchable as Peter Cushing and the eerie Ingrid Putt liven things up, and there's some fine boobs on display.

It starts off pretty good but most of the movie is pretty boring. The ending with a bit of a letdown as well. There is enough here to keep this from being a waste of time but not much more.

The first installment of Hammer's 'Karenstein Trilogy' was infamous in its day for bringing an overtly lesbian aspect to the usual lusty female vampire trope, featuring gratuitous scenes of attractive bare breasted young women running around big bedrooms. Ingrid Pitt became something of a cult figure for her role as Marcilla/Carmilla, but her alluring presence far overshadows her actual performance, which is competent at best. Overall it's a middling Hammer effort that's completely forgettable.

Pedestrian vampire outing with touches of lesbianism. Unexciting, if lushly designed and filmed.

Fairly good adaptation that plays up the ooo-how-spoooky-she's-leeeeesbian angle for all it can. Nice mood, low energy, but Pitt makes a good vampire. Or a bad one, which is pretty much the same, isn't it?

Just warning, not lots of action, just a pretty steamy lesbian vampire lusting over straight innocent girls and giving them nightmares about cats. All highly undusted.
