Very weak thriller made better by the always crazy Jeff Bridges.

Surprisingly liked this better then the original but you can't go wrong with either one Cleverly written and though somewhat cheesy a satisfying ending

See the original. This one is unfortunately overacted and 'Hollywoodized'.

The original was a truly creepy and unsettling affair,this lame hollywood remake leaves you utterly uninspired.Difficult to believe that it was done by the same director,what a sell-out.

This americanized version of the original film is nothing but an awful cash in - the way the ending was butchered to make it palatable for US tastes was unforgivable. The original, "Spoorloos", is a remarkable work of cinema - this one would be best forgotten.

This movie has some good scenes but overall it just does not quite work. The actors do a good job but the screenplay seems unsatisfying.

The ending is such bullshit, GAWD.

Neither Bridges nor Sutherland's characters are all that sympathetic. Still, the psychological aspects are solid and you can understand the obsession theme. I have yet to see the original, but I feel I should after watching this version.

Jesus Christ. I didn't think Jeff Bridges was capable of being a bad actor, but then this came along and proved me wrong.

I've got to say even though I'm not the biggest fan of the original this movie was a disappointing bore. Jeff Bridges was horrible in this, Kiefer Sutherland was alright but seemed really miscast, and while Nancy Travis was bad her character was truly terrible. The movie was completely different than the original in both tone and atmosphere mainly due to the fact that this film completely lacked atmosphere or tension and had weird bits of random humor...

Wanted to like it more..If you want to see a much better version rent the 1988 French version of the same name ,aka "Spoorlos" especially if you dont have an aversion to subtitles.

Although the French version is a hair better (sans Hollywood-izing of the story), this movie still freaks me out. Everytime I go on vacation with my wife, when we stop at a gas station, this movie enters my head.

Excellent. A tense and sadistic tale about a guy(Kiefer Sutherland) still searching for his girlfriend years after her abduction.

A dumb ending. But one of the sexiest/most charming scenes in film: when the girl is talking to the murderer in the 7-11 (or whatever that is); admittedly part of the allure might well be that you know the psycho is going to off her in a few minutes.

Skip this one and see the original instead.

I was only six when I say this movie. I was so freaky scared.

There was no one to root for in the film, everyone had done things that were across the line, and the one that I found my self rooting for most was the bad guy..

Remember preferring the original greatly.

Kiefer Sutherland and Sandra Bullock in the same movie. You figure out the rest.

How can the director of the original film produce such a piece of junk?

I think I saw this remake first, some years before I saw the original. I thought it wasn't bad. Naturally the original is preferable but this is a decent movie to watch despite the Americanization.
