Nice to have a view at Hugo Chavez beyond the completely sensationalized and heavily biased American media. This documentary deconstructs how America is an enemy of democracy over the world either through direct involvement, slander campaigns or apathy. Yes it's biased but I don't think it's any sort of a secret now that America's foreign policy is governed almost completely by self-interest, at least under certain Presidents.

The Venezuela portion is funny to watch, as Pilger slobbers over Chavez as the second coming of Lenin about four years before their whole economy slammed into a concrete wall. The rest of the doc is great though (the CIA "national interest" guy is satire brought to life), you just have to get over Pilger being an incorrigible Oliver Stone-like boomer tankie.

[Distant] The use of maps in empowering the people was especially interesting to me.
