My picks would be a crypto-millionaire gang, armed drone gang, hipster microbrewer gang, militarised Bernie voters and a new-money-Chinese-tourist gang that simply shows up en-masse, pouring out of a giant tour bus until there is no space left in frame for anyone to move.

I can dig it! *Bops Gene Shalit with a roll of quarters in a sock across the jaw* Do all these gangs just hang out 24/7 or is this something they go do once a week. Some disappointed kid watching their 40 year old Dad putting greasepaint on and squeezing into a baseball uniform. James Remar was contractually obligated to call everyone faggots at least three times. Wish there was more glimpses at ridiculous gangs. “Don’t you dare go down 45th that’s Honey Suckle turf!”

As goofy, zany and completely '60s as this was the characters and the film itself are played completely straight and the actors seem to be giving it all. This reminds me more of the craziness of the late sixties than the late seventies. This is the kind of movie that really shouldn't work but does.

Ok, so THE WARRIORS may be a skosh overrated and more than a little cheesy. But there's no denying its rare ability to create its own zeitgeist: a nervous, violent energy coupled with a kind of apocalyptic urban romanticism. Not that you're really meant to consider such things when a quasi-Indian gang is beating up on a bunch of baseball clowns. This dumb Homeric movie is a world unto itself--not necessarily one that deserves our affinity, but certainly one that commands our attention.

Can you dig it? Fuck yeah I can dig it! This movie has no right being as fun as it is, what with the poor acting, thin plot, and extreme cheesyness. But it has a gang of guys-who-wear-overalls! With one on rollerskates! Fantastic soundtrack as well

One guy gets hit by a train, and no-one even notices he's gone, such is the dedication this film has to forward momentum in the story. This is a movie where tough fightin' gang members are played by lithe graceful ballet dancers, and it's great. You won't find a better example of that particular genre.

It's always seemed strange that a film about violent gang-members could become so popular, but it sort of makes sense watching this film, which doesn't quite hit the grittiness and realism for this streety setting, mostly due to some poor acting and casting that fails to convey the hardness of these "gang members". It is indeed fun watching people walk/commute/run to and from different New York subways (especially in the late '70s), but some of the fight scenes in between are also unconvincing.
