any annoyances i have with the lack of sound in brakhage films are immediately evaporated when i hear what he actually does with it. fuck me that was incompetent.

I think this is the first film to have the signature "By Brakhage" in the titles. It feels the most like a student film, too "experimental" without having much of a point. The blowing into the microphone was really annoying, too.

A distraught young man in an apartment gouges out his own eyes and exits into a garden shot in negative black and white. A very young Stan Brakhage makes a film that seems to tell a story, but feels more like an exercise in using visual gimmicks. That's not necessarily a bad thing.
