Somewhat distant film but well made, not histrionic (has the Japanese ethos of duty prominent but it is not overly emotive). Certainly interesting for the history it portrays - those with a medical yen should watch. The "battle" referred to in the synopsis is not a hysteric shouting match but both strongly putting themselves forward into danger as "guinea pigs" to foster the doc's translation of theory and experimentation into real work with human patients.
