Dont't think its strange comic bits go around that well with police procedural and supernatural-esque horror, but this is undeniably interestingly weird and engaging. Also, just 80 minutes of running time is always something to be praised.

The Wolf of Snow Hollow is an enjoyable crime drama that is reminiscent of earlier X-Files episodes. The pacing is equally as mysterious as the plot; the film clocks in at under 90 minutes but feels slow overall, contrasting the punchy pacing of many scenes. The editing (of said scenes) and Lovett's quirky score add a refreshingly humorous tone (usually a Cummings' character's expense) to the otherwise conventional film. Perhaps neither ground-breaking nor iconic, but entertaining nevertheless.

The weakest part, sadly, is Cummings himself. Everyone else is written well, acted well, but he hams his own character up so much and wrote him so inconsistently. It's okay to be an angry character, but it just jumps from point to point. A shame because the atmosphere is great and I laughed quite a few times--admittedly, some of it IS from Cummings because his character sometimes works wonderfully. Tells a decent mystery and it's competently directed.

Very inconsistent tone. It doesn't work as a comedy and the often quirky dialogue and over the top character moments just undermine any drama. Also Jim Cummings looks way too young to be playing this character.

Super weird at times. Sets black humor tone and then pivots into serious realm. Sort of like Fargo. Not bad overall but can't shake the feeling it would have been better if it were funnier or more serious.

I wish I would have liked it more. The concept and execution is quite nice but my God Jim Cummings character is just written poorly. Like he's a complete piece of shit for most of the movie which is fine but he is way too tuned up for a movie that's as grounded as it is.

Cummings successfully lands another dark, funny, sad hoot of a film. There is so much to admire about the relatable, urgent, familiar style he puts on display again. The lead performance is just too similar to Thunder Road, some plot points didn't add up, and the chaotic pace was fun but lost me a couple of times.

It's beautifully shot with a lot of Fargo feels. The character played by Jim Cummings is just too much like his character in Thunder Road and feels seriously off in this one, like he belongs in that other movie, still. Just weird, weird dialogue and shouting that doesn't fit. Otherwise I did kinda like it.
