Did you know that wall-street guys are creeps? Oh, you did? Well here's three hours of that shoved down your throat.

Well, I expected way more. The Wolf is a very funny movie (Jonah Hill is absolutely hilarious) and obviously Scorsese is not going to make a movie that lacks in style. Still, in the end I feel like this one is not going to stick. That is to say, it severely lacks in substance. This wouldn't be a problem if it were formally innovative, but it isn't.

Long. Another film in the "Epic biopic of unsavory characters" genre. DiCaprio is too likeable for someone you spend the whole film trying to hate.

Extremely entertaining! A good deliver from a modern Scorsese starring his master actor. Oh, I have also to mention Jonah Hill acting, which is incredible for the first time I've seen, I guess.

Scorsese's best work since The Aviator. Although I could feel this movie's 3 hour length at times, I don't think I would cut anything out (and could honestly sit through more...). It's a loud, exaggerated, brutal kick in the head that's hilarious and thought provoking. Leo is brilliant and Jonah Hill is a pleasant surprise, often stealing the show.

Stockbrokers as a contemporary and crazier version of gangsters, but ones that, unlike their earlier counterparts, no longer understand what they make money out of - the market.

Scoresese portrays the brutality and barbarism of these modern plunderers with unflinching honesty. Mechanically it's impeccable. Flawless performances, brilliant direction...I could go on. However, what do we come away with? This film is more scribe then poet, simply chronicling what happened, but it has almost nothing to say about it and precious little insight to provide. The film is great to think about, but no more so than everyday life. Therein lies its failure.

watching this again years later I found I didn't love it nearly as much. it's hard to criticize excess, when the whole point is to put it on display, but it became repetitive and a bit one note after a while. it's still pretty funny, well acted, overall a good time for its 3 hour length.

Sex, drugs, money....this movie has a ton of all three. Leo and Jonah kill it as usual.

The only original and memorable part of the movie was the ten minute scene right at the beginning with McConaughey in the restaurant. The rest was mildly amusing cookie cutter Crazy Antics!!! that shed no insight into the inner life of the protagonist/the industry. I get it - the guy was an ambitious charismatic egomaniac asshole - that was apparent after about 15 minutes - and then rammed down our throats for another 160 odd minutes to no apparent purpose other than a few cheap laughs.

Another solid Scorcese movie held back from greatness by a lack of editing - the movie just bludgeons the viewer, and it's overlong by at least 20-30 minutes.

Gratuitous nudity, and a whole lot of blow hards getting off on each other, makes this true story of excess seem more celebratory, than cautionary.

I know what you're thinking, we all are. eughhh stock market big nerds big calculators fractions multiplicitals big bloody triangles and ohh what's 6/tenths of a pi!! Jordan Belfort doesn't play to these rules though. Is Jordan Belfort a big man? Perhaps! Does Jordan Belfort have a big plan? Most definitely. Hold onto your socks for this rollercoaster ladies and gentlemen, it's gonna be a whopper.

An unpredictably hilarious Scorsese movie that is predictably Scorsese. It feels as long as it is, but nearly every minute of Wolf is enjoyable. However the events of the character's life have the emotional impact of an infomercial because, big surprise, a cocksure male rises and falls from hubris. Leo acts best when he acts a brat, and this may indeed be his best. The soundtrack oscillates rudely between electric blues' greatest hits and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Perhaps the worst part.

The first half of this film (and it's a long film) is pretty much just obnoxious people doing a ton of drugs and fucking. While I am a big fan of doing drugs and fucking, I'd like more from a film. Thankfully the film gets much better in the second half.

Dark, blunt, delusional, hysterical. The movie sometimes takes the viewer to the frenzied and intoxicated minds of the characters, only to crash at a cold and morbid reality a little later. It competently steers the viewer through its wildly different states of mind, leaving us numb at the end, making for a worthwhile experience.

Even though we know his actions are reprehensible, we watch in fascination and even glee as Jordan Belfort (DiCaprio) stops at nothing to make a buck. Scorcese's pacing and sense of comic farce elevate this film from what in other hands could have become a moralistic "warning" against amoral Wall Street greed. Instead, it's something more like a roller coaster that sweeps us along and keeps us sympathetic to Belfort. Not once does the film let its pace slow. Buckle up and have a crazy ride!

I don't agree that its Scorsese's best! But this movie is both sickening and hilarious in equal measure. There isn't a particularly strong story direction or depth of character to the script but I think that it reflects Belfort and Co.s lifestyles and personalities perfectly. Also, the Lemmon ludes scene is comic gold!

Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorcese together paint a infectiously fun portrait of amorality and hedonism with only a few moments that really don't work (DiCaprio persuading everyone in the office to beat their chest and sing rhythmically as McConaughey did with him) and all-too-familiar scenes of domestic dispute that we already saw in Goodfellas and Raging Bull. The fact that most of it actually happened (just read the Slate.com article on it) is astonishing.

Whenever Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio get together, it's magic. This film is incredibly entertaining and from beginning to end Leonardo DiCaprio delivers what I think might just be his best performance yet. Also, Jonah Hill did a tremendous job.

Leo and Hil just being complete savages. Though the writing was well done, the casting was perfect for each character. But the best part is that it did such a good a good job educating people on the subprime mortgage crash.

This movie was ridiculously entertaining and hilarious. It might seem easy to take away a moral from the story that this movie tells, but the way the story was told and expressed through the film contained very few traces of moralizing, which was an interesting experience.

I imagine Scorcese was watching loads of Tarantino and Marx Brothers when he got a flippant call from his broker claiming he had lost a bunch of Martin's money, and thus set out to bore this hilarious lampooning of the One Percent.

DiCaprio continues to morph into the DeNiro or Brando of his generation with a sly, funny, gonzo performance in Scorcese's damning biopic. "Wolf" somehow manages to remain entertaining for a full three hours, a feat on par with scaling Everest in today's cinematic landscape.

Featuring outstanding performances from DiCaprio, Hill, Robbie and the rest of the cast, as well as an excellent balance in tone and legitimately laugh-out-loud comedy throughout, it's an always engaging pseudo-biopic that manages to be a near-perfect blend of drama, comedy, and raunchiness that never feels forced or overdone. Despite its three-hour runtime sometimes being noticeable, it's a highly entertaining movie that's well worth watching and delivers in just about every way.

This movie's appeal rests on your desire to watch DiCaprio turn debauchery up to 11. If there, it's an impressively directed thrill ride with style to spare. If not, you'll likely be underwhelmed. The movie is never boring but rarely fascinating; its intentionally numbing displays of excess can't mask that its 3 hour runtime never discovers a compelling character or interesting point of view. Despite some excellent scenes, shots, & performances from Hill & DiCaprio, it's ultimately forgettable.

I felt like this movie was "too much" at times - too much sex, too many drugs, too much ostentation. It felt a little bit too long, specially right before the middle when the plot really kicks in. At the same time, the exaggeration is probably as intentational as it can be.

Essentially a re imagined, wall street based, goodfellas. just without pecsi deniro and liotta. Instead we get Decaprio and Hill giving great overall performances and really selling their characters to the audience. Though i was entertained throughout the movie was perhaps 30 minutes too long and left me feeling like something was missing at the end. Though it had its faults this movie was very entertaining throughout and absolutely hilarious, definite recommended watch.

This movie is extremely entertaining and easily keeps you're attention throughout the 3hr runtime. I steal this from someone on here who said it better than i can "treats its viewers as intelligent enough to judge Jordan based on his actions without having to explicitly tell us he's a bad person". This is something i have always felt Scorsese has almost always done well. Alcatraz means pelican. The acting is top tier everyone does phenomenal. Overall probably one of Scorsese's best works
