Interesting but seemed to be missing all sorts of details that would have made it more understandable and more enjoyable. Worth a look still.

It's very mysterious, ultimately perhaps a bit too much to wholly work for me (the final twenty minutes or so were a bit unsatisfying), but for most of its runtime it makes for a very moody, gripping film. I really loved both Kristin Scott Thomas and Ethan Hawke in this.

I kept trying to make sense of this movie and I kept failing. I guess if you like these kind of artistic movies, you would like The Woman In The Fifth, but I can't say that I do. It just didn't work. 38/100.

Kinda lost me once the plot twists started piling up, but I really dug it as an offbeat, elegant romance. I don't even really care what actually happened in the plot (it's pretty incomprehensible), I just liked Hawke's weird chemistry with the two women.

This psychothriller only became really interesting near the end, when it's too little, too late.

A strange one this, a sort of arty psychological thriller/mystery. Hawke kind of grew on me, it turns out he has the perfect combination of vulnerability and menace for this role. It's got a strong atmosphere and absolutely terrific photography, but somehow failed to really speak to me (and I love things like this).

A bit too mysterious and unfathomable. It possibly needs a second viewing. Pawlikowski doesn't rush, pausing at the end of each sequence so that the viewer can interpret what they have just seen but it still left me confused.

Loved the visual sensibility--the haze, the obscured vision--that only enhanced the tension and drama around the central character. The film's exploration of the isolation is also quite good, with Hawke's character ending up in an entirely unexpected place. Were this a mainstream film, it would have telegraphed its direction long before--that this didn't only served to heighten the horror of Tom's circumstances.

Mysterious stuff. Felt a little like a Murakami novel or something. Awesome job by Kristin Scott Thomas! Pun intended. Weird how few people like this one. Considering its awesomeness. :o
