This was pretty good until the third act was abruptly solved, there must be like 20 minutes of cut footage that would make this good somewhere in an editing studio...

Whatever artistic notions led to the odd stylised aesthetic don't pay off, as the artificiality only highlights the unsatisfactory screenplay. For those who've seen it or don't mind having the plot spoiled, it should also be noted that this combines two recent Hollywood obsessions: amnesiac spouse-killers and mothers struggling to cope with the grief of a dead kid. Perhaps it was having a story that upped the ante with this combo that convinced someone to put money and stars into this nonsense.

The Woman in the Window was so bad that it was hilarious to watch. The script is awful anyway, Joe Wright's directing is even worse. Amy Adams is the only good thing about this movie.

Entertaining throughout, worth a watch. However, the biggest problem is having an excellent cast where everybody (outside of Adams) is underused. Imagine having this many scene stealers and not letting them steal the scene. Adams was wonderful. In retrospect, the mystery itself was not really compelling; it was solid but nothing we haven't seen before. Actually a lot more visually intriguing than I expected; good job characterizing the house with dim lighting and some interesting camera angles.

Kind of disappointing for the talent involved (Amy Adams and Gary Oldman). The book is probably better. The movie reminded me of a Rear Window knockoff.

Joe Wright's Oscar-baity style is such a mismatch for this type of story. The music is horribly unfitting and genuinely got on my nerves every time it piped in. The editing stuck out as especially bad. Scenes are often cut like trailers, way too fast and with lots of awkward jumping around between non-complementary shots. The editing being so notably weak has me half-expecting it to earn an Oscar nomination a la Bohemian Rhapsody. The talented cast can't salvage such a stylistic nightmare.

I love Amy Adams so much and she's definitely like the goddess in this film but the script doesn't promise you anything. A failed Hithcock, Rear Window imitation from Joe Wright. The script is very poor.

It's a pedestrian Hitchcock ripoff with off-the-shelf horror movie cliches thrown in and constant implausibilities, but you can tell that the producers were eerily confident about it by the mega-stars in the cast and the overstylized, needlessly effect-laden directing.

If one is going to remake a classic like "Rear Window," then they had better turn out something special. Not only does this film fall far short of being special, it basically sinks the level of being nothing more than dreck.

I didn't know anything about this movie before I saw it, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was basically yet another version of "REAR WINDOW" in a way, and I've never NOT enjoyed a film like this. The only major difference is...in Rear Window or Disturbia, our main hero is trying to set up ways to trap the killer, but Amy Adams mostly just acts crazy shouting SEE!? SEE!? I'M NOT CRAZY the whole time, which isn't really helping her case. Good, thrilling movie, though

A good addition to the list of amazing flops and cinematic facepalms. The usually amazing Amy Adams looks completely helpless and is forced into a horrid, raspberry worthy performance.

This never deviates from the basic constructs of the paranoid-gaslighting thriller; the screenplay feels like it was written by an algorithm rather than a Pulitzer Prize winner. But it's honestly very watchable! Wright's direction is, as ever, over-the-top and bordering on garish, but an excess of style that doesn't always work is still infinitely preferable to something completely bland and anonymous. The back half gets really silly, but I enjoyed this film more than I expected.

Blarrrgh, how could they make this movie so boring? It had some better moments but overall it was a bit painful to watch. Acting was okay but the script didn't work. Just re-watch Rear Window, instead.

Some cool imagery and decent acting from this incredibly talented ensemble cast doesn't save this movie from being pretty unoriginal and uneeded.

Wright's attempts to elevate a dated cliche-ridden B-movie script with throwbacky stylistic flair mostly backfire, only highlighting the stale & inept way the psychological mystery plot is set up. Mishandled in so many ways it's kinda hard to get what they were even going for. Predictable & jarring but not without some strange fun thanks mostly to the all-over-the-place performances & the seemingly joyous way Wright indulges in this kind of nonsense. At least he seems to be enjoying himself...

A rear window knock off that fails to deliver. Amy Adams performance is admirable but the movie is way too predictable and the pacing is terrible. Still you can't help but watch from start to finish. The story of the writer of the book this movie is based on would make a more entertaining documentary that this movie turned out to be.

I tend to love films like this. Great cast, a few twists that are surprising but aren’t very memorable, and Wright’s direction, while overly stylized, works well enough for some scenes. On the other hand, the pacing is inconsistent, characters underdeveloped, and the movie feels like a bunch of other better films stitched together. The first thirty minutes was basically a dull take on Rear Window. While I enjoyed the climax, it wasn’t particularly original either. Hard to recommend.

1 Agorafobi filmi. Hatta Manik depresif. Karşı daireyi gözetleyen Amy Adams, komşusunun ölmesini görünce, kanıtlamak için elinden geleni yapacaktır. Psikoloji yönünden zayıf, cinayet öyküsünden de hallice ilerliyor. Tek mekanda geçen film, bütün yükü Amy Adams'a vermiş. Filmin sonunda, oğlum bak git. Jane o değil. Bana Julianne Moore getirin.

Potansiyeli olmuş olan filmlerden biri daha. Amy Adams'ı izlemeye zaten sinir oluyorum. Bir de böyle aptal bir senaryo içinde izlemek ayrı sinir bozdu. Yalnız şu herkesin diline dolanan Rear Window çakmasını göremedim. Benzer bir konuyu büyük oranda farklı şekilde işliyorlar.

I gravitate towards these types of films, like a moth to a flame. They always make them seem so good in the trailer, don't they? The mystery, suspense and ambiguity of what's really going on, only to fizzle out completely once you watch the entire movie. Amy Adams was good, but give me Jimmy Stewart any day of the week in comparison! Such a disappointing and lame 3rd act, with boneheaded and lazy writing. Do yourselves a favour and go watch Rear Window or Body Double for a better experience

It squandered a fantastic performance from Adams by limiting the screen time of every other major star in this film. It doesn't play as much into the mystery as it should have to shroud the film in chaos and confusion. The final moments are slasher like and not really thrilling because the sinister motif had always been in play since the beginning.

Wanted to like it far more than I did. Great actors don't always mean a great flick. I can't say too much without a spoilers tag. It felt disjointed w one particularly aggressive detective. Below average whodunnit. I did like Adams performance for the most part though. 5.4

I can only assume the script represents the stage of Letts' Hollywood foray in which he makes like his beloved Faulkner and debases himself by adapting a potboiler. Except you're sober and rich so cut the shit, ja?
