Unfortunately watched with a group that was aiming to riff and this was about as fun as getting a root canal while you're in line at the DMV to renew your license so that you can drive your ex-girlfriend that left you for another man to the airport so she can go see that other man.

Bringing some good actors & behind-the-scenes technique 2 the horror niche of torture porn 4 no discernible reason other than the hamfisted pretensions of its delusional creators. They seem 2 believe all the abuse they force us 2 sit through (rape & an adolescent boy tears off a shackled woman's nipple: it's unpleasant 2 even read, isn't it?) is somehow a valid commentary on patriarchal oppression. It's not. It's misguided in the extreme, a dim-witted pedophile preaching 4 children's rights.

Empty, mean-spirited and infuriating trash. Probably a lot more enjoyable if you really hate women. And ye gods, the music is so out of place you can't not laugh.

A serious contender for daftest movie of the year. It's a remarkable combination of the vulgarity, misandry and superficiality of radical feminism, with totally gratuitous gory violence (though no nastier than can be found elsewhere). And as exploitative as that sounds, it's not the least of how imbecilic and yet pretentious this movie is. There's also an abhorrent use of tacky hard-rock music in the soundtrack, including during rape and murder scenes.

I guess I can see why some liked this.? I am not big into gore so this didn't do it for me. The story was ho hum and the spirit and tone of this movie is just very mean-spirited. It could have been worse but I didn't think it was very good.

Sweet christ, that soundtrack really lived up to its notoriety. There really is no worse use of music in anything. The film itself isn't much better, I've never spent an entire films running time desperate to see a family be eviscerated and when the massacre finally occurs, it isn't nearly brutal enough to be satisfying. Pollyanna McIntosh is as good as she was in "Offspring" and the fathers actor does a decent job but everything else is pretty damn awful. Bonus points for no CGI.

Poor soundtrack choices. Character decisions made no sense, and made the film hard to relate to. Seems to want to make some kind of statement on misogyny, but falls flat.

A big disappointment and not even close to as unsettling as it's been made out to be. Lucky McKee just does not have the directorial or story telling chops to carry a film like this. The music is abysmal and super distracting. 'Irreversible', 'Martyrs', and 'Inside' remain far superior examples of truly shocking horror films.

I've seen some extremely gory movies, and they don't really affect me. This movie has its share of gore, but where it really succeeds is in psychological terror. You will want a shower when it's over. You will be exhilarated.

Although the story and the directing were not near perfect, I liked the package. It's an extreme story of home violence on big scale. The opening will mislead you a lot (or maybe except if you are seeing father as a wolf) and the very end went unnecessarily berserk. The images on a way were already enough brutal and disturbing. Sean Bridgers made a brilliant work as a maniac father.

Honestly, I'm not sure quite what to make of this movie yet. I reserve the right to come back and change the score later. But the reality is that it took me a long time to finish this one because I kept getting bored with it.

This is what horror is supposed to look like. Bone-chilling, unsettling, and vaguely dirty; you sort of get the impression that you should be watching this alone, at night, with the shades drawn and the volume turned way down. Searingly brilliant and terrifying, with an ending that redefines the term "bravura." Sean Bridgers turns in an unforgettably, bravely skeevy performance, and the woman...well, she's kind of a metaphor, isn't she?

I followed djross's advice, seeing this film without prior knowledge of the content. I now second that advice. Don't read reviews or discussions of the movie before watching it. This is one of the best horror movies of the twenty-first century. So far, at least. Several steps up from in-some-ways similar, earlier DEADGIRL (2008).

This movie irks me in more than one way, and this will contain some spoilers. The first half of the movie is really well done, suspenseful, gets under your skin and bothers you. which is its purpose. however, I think the ending drops the ball in such a large way that it takes away from the entire movie. From killing off the mom just trying to make the best of a horrible life with her kids, to the dog human in the shed and the ending where they all walk off to be forest people. just plain stupid.

The Woman is a not so subtle all-out assault on men who try to keep women in line. Pollyanna McIntosh's performance is magnetic, and despite the movie's low-rent feel and tongue-in-cheek plot, its combination of domestic satire and depraved exploitation works in ways you might not expect. Not at all perfect, often uneven, and sometimes stupid, but I can't keep this one out of my head. PS: Lucky McKee, what the hell are you doing with the soundtrack? Stop that.

A douchey lawyer captures a feral woman in the woods and decides to lock her up in his cellar in an effort to civilize her. Things quickly escalate out of control as more is revealed about the lawyer's dysfunctional family. It's a fast paced, gory horror flick that does most things really effectively, but the soundtrack is unbelievably terrible. The main dude looks like a retarded Will Ferrell, so I thoroughly enjoyed seeing him die horribly.

Tough to rate. Very memorable, but I'm not sure I would recommend it. Disappointing if you're expecting a masterpiece like 'May'; much better than 'The Woods'. There are shades of brilliance in the film; aesthically it's all over the place, ranging from amazing to amateurish. There are rough edges (unfortunate soundtrack choices, some poor acting). While it never quite comes together well, what saves it are some truly discomforting scenes with the titular woman. The story isn't half-bad, either.

Fucking feminists! Good movie yet somehow very limited. Great performances from all involved except, perhaps, the woman herself. Granted, hers was the by far toughest role. Didn't mind the musical montages personally but they might not be for everyone.

I saw May and enjoyed it, so I had to give The Woman a try...and loved it. I cannot recommend this movie to everyone, hell I can't even recommend it to most of my friends, but if you're looking for something completely out of left field, give it a shot. The less you know about the movie before watching it only makes the experience that much more crazy.

One of those rare movies that really shocked me. From the start something just felt off kilter and unsettling. I know this won't appeal to many people,as it's a hard watch with some real graphic moments. But for me,it grabbed me by the throat and didn't let go till it's horrifying bloody climax. If you have an open mind and strong stomach,i would defiantly recommend this to any horror fan.

I liked it a lot, but for a US horror movie it's certainly unique in the approach it takes - if I were to compare it to anything it would be Kim Ki-duk's movies, where you're never quite sure if he's a militant feminist or an absolutely shameless misogynist. (McKee is nowhere near Kim in terms of cinematography, of course, but that's OK, it's a different genre altogether.) The Woman is a really strong piece of work, and McKee is quite a piece of work himself.

Uneven, and amateurish at times, but the good mostly outweigh the bad, and then the finale really lifts it up. But yeah, the soundtrack is just awful.

This is no movie to ignore. A unique, deeply disturbing, beautifully macabre cross between French Extremity horror and American Beauty suburban dramedy. I was glued. Once it was over, I was left clueless as to what to do next. What act could follow such an utterly insane, utterly audacious piece of work? How do I get it to stop gnawing at my assumptions of what's decent, what's normal? You got me, McKee. You got me good.

Filmin senaristinde ne erkek düşmanlığı varmış arkadaş. Filme iyi bir tane bile erkek koymamışlar. Hahaha. Heleki baş erkek karakterin klişe kadın düşmanlığı konuşması tam olmuş bekliyordum zaten. Valla bir bitmediniz yemin ediyorum. Onun dışında film kurgusu bok gibi. Müzikler iyi sayılır. Oyunculuklar fena değil. Görüntü yönetmeni iyi. Filmin sonu anlamsız. Yani film ortalama bir film am elim yüksek vermeye gitmiyor erkek düşmanlığından dolayı.
