A bit of an experiment from Bujalski, who shoots this film during COVID with his actors in different places. He makes no attempt to mask this, but the intimacy he creates with his close-up photography is quite surprising, given the formal conceit. This stacks up well against his previous work, mining the same kind of thematic territory of people seeking to connect with one another, even as they find it challenging to achieve their goals.
