Some good parts but this is a long "story" that was all over the place and just OK for me. I usually like Marilyn Monroe but her singing here was bad and her acting was like an annoying parody of herself. The most interesting part for me was seeing the son announcing his intention to be a priest being played so clearly as someone coming out as gay. I immediately thought, wouldn't it be funny if Johnnie Ray was gay? I googled it, and of course he was.

my god is the production value to talent ratio off the charts in this one. nearly every number is positively dreadful, with the exception of donald's solo

Forget Marilyn, Ethel Merman is the real star of this movie. Another of the greatest musicals

very entertaining; Marilyn Monroe is great but the `mother` Ethel Merman is the real star in this movie... great music by Irving Berlin

The sets, the costumes, the tap dancing: just absolutely marvellous. Who told you you need “an actual story”? or “well developed characters”? Bullshit. Show me the moves and the big show with funny tunes. You can tell there was so much love put into this. Everyone here truly loves the art of performing, it honestly got me a little teary eyed. I just love musicals :’)
