There's something about Mary that still bewitches Ted. Although he hasn't seen her in over a dozen years, since that shameful prom night, his heart still flutters at the recollection of her. He's still crazy about her after all these years, and curious as to her whereabouts. At the insistence of his good friend Dom, he hires private eye Pat Healy to track her down in Miami.

Perhaps it's because this movie was a big-ass deal when it came out and I, tender little indie soul that I am, immediately dislike things that are wildly popular because I'm an elitist snot---but this movie did nothing for me. It was just littered with self-conscious (but somewhat tepid) gross-out humor and was far too over-the-top for me. Also, Cameron Diaz has that weird heaving retard laugh and I don't like her.

Stiller is in a couple of funny scenes, Diaz doesn't suck too bad, but the real surprise for me was Matt Dillon. He is extremely funny as the raging jackass Healy, especially his attempts to be the perfect boyfriend.

If you must see one of Ben Stiller's 20 plus movies that have the same plot, see this one, if only to hear Matt Dillon say, "I work with retards." Easily one of the best, if not the best, of the bunch of contrived Stiller-driven vehicles.

Re-ranking this. I saw this movie so, SO many times in its first few years of existence, and it was referenced so much in late 90s pop culture that I became numb to it, but after seeing it again for the first time in way over a decade I remember how fantastic this really is. It's on a higher level than almost every other "great" comedy released since 1998.

Well, semen in the hair might seem amusing at first, but until you've gone through the ordeal you shouldn't be laughing at Mary's expense. I couldn't help myself though - the image of her as a female Tintin with hair gelled back with cum was too good to ignore. 99% of my score goes to this mental image.

"There's Something About Mary" is overstuffed and the humor is generally uneven, but there is several funny stuff to keep one almost constantly amused. Although some of the gags fall flat and the pacing is problematic, there are also plenty of laugh-out-loud sequences of over-the-top raunciness. It's nothing spectacular overall, but it's solid, light fun.

There's Something About Mary is a funny and kind of raunchy comedy. The humor is in your face, but the actors make that what you want. It's fast paced, and it never really slows down thanks to lost of silly twists and a ridiculous climax. Really good!

Nowhere near as shocking as it was 20 years ago but still a good time. This was one of my most memorable cinema experiences with the entire audience losing their minds at the antics. Matt Dillon is an excellent creep along with the great Chris Elliot in one of his few quality film roles. The less broad stuff still goes down an absolute treat and I think is what makes the movie hold up.

Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz go together like Franks and Beans in this raunchy comedy. I really do like this movie. It has a zany cast of misfits all in love with Mary, played by Diaz. The musical interludes make me happy between each scene. The hair gel scene will always live in infamy...

Man was this ever over hyped. I think the first time I watched this I didn't even crack a smile once. Second time was a little better but I could have been as amused watching just about any other generic low brow comedy aimed at the high school college crowd. I guess raunchy doesn't equal funny to me not even when I was a teen.

What were pretty riotous scenes on the first viewing have faded with time and the evolution of the genre. In other words, copycat gross-out comedies have lessened Mary's impact. Aside from the key moments, much of the film is quite tedious and I could do without the characters played by Dillon and Evans. Diaz and Stiller's chemistry still works though. Despite its flaws the film still deserves a passing grade, although I'd rather watch it on fast forward these days.
