Complete 180 from "In The Heat of The Night" in story and tone. Story drags, and honestly, I don't want to see half a movie where Mr. Tibbs' family is fighting all the time. They should have followed Tibbs back to Philly for this installment and shown the exceptional detective in his own stomping grounds that earned the praise of his captain. "The Organization" is a better follow up.

Might be a little slow moving and not quite as good as the third in the series, owing to too much family drama, but I quite enjoy these movies. Still haven't seen the first one, but this one didn't do anything to dissuade me from watching it.

Poitier is good as usual and the soundtrack is awesome but dull movie otherwise with lame moralizing

Poitier is the only thing this film has going for it. Tibbs slowly plods through an investigation that gets less and less interesting as poor attempts at twists are thrown in, made especially bad by the fact that the culprit is clear as day. Tibbs also has strange family affairs- the detective wants to have sex in front of his daughter and for some reason cant figure why his young sons becoming a delinquent so he sits him down with a cigar, beats him, hugs him, calls it a resolution. The hell?
