Having seen a few Bobby Howes films before, he's one of those 1930s British leading men that's difficult to understand the appeal of. But from a very early talkie perspective it makes more sense, here in his first ldad role, he can talk.... with ease. Not always a punchliner, he can still talk his way through any scene without being awkward about it. That, and seeing him handle a gun while in his vicar costume was a good laugh. Besides that, he had Gordon Harker roughing it up a little.
