Tense historical/political drama about the Cuban missile crises. Definitely the best historical/political drama I've ever seen. The only thing that threw me was Kevin Costern's terrible/fake accent. (He botches a lot of films with his fake accents!)

Very solid political thriller with tight dialogue and great performances by all three leads. Aesthetically, I’m confused: what was up with the random black and white shots? They felt completely disjointed. There definitely is some cheesiness and a huge dose of patriotism here, specially towards the end, which surprises no one.

An accurate, tense drama that is becoming more critical to us every day now that Russia is relevant in our affairs again. It shows how important it is for informed, intelligent, level-headed people to be in charge of running our country.

Very good portrayal of the Cuban Missle Crisis, but not great aside from the historical significance. Thirteen Days also has some of the worst accents in cinematic history.

Its a well written, historical, political thriller, but really its not very well acted. Kevin Costner just does not show his chops here and the people playing The Kennedeys weren't too great either. However, it was well-paced and had some tense and interesting moments. Its functional, but its nothing I would reccomend.

It's an entertaining look at the Cuban Missile Crisis, but to make room for Costner to have a major part, they fabricated a whole bunch of scenes which gave Kenny O'Donnell too much impact and credit for saving the world. If you want to see an authentic telling of this pivotal moment in world history, checkout the TV docudrama The Missiles of October from 1974 starring William Devane and Martin Sheen.

Not bad for a slicked up historical drama. I didn't even really mind Costner that much.

A great film on JFK and a real insight in the motivation behind his assassination.

Donaldson wisely opts not to over-dramatize what was clearly a suspenseful story to begin with (and realizes, as well, that we know the outcome). The few sacrifices of historical accuracy made in the name of dramatic license are basically harmless. Greenwood and Culp ably handle the often difficult task of portraying the brothers Kennedy, and Costner is solid as the brothers' trusted confidante.

Kevin Costner is hilariously awful and it was a mistake to make him the central character. Besides that nothing is really wrong with it, it just feels like a high budget television movie. Also love the throwaway "China invaded India lol" conversation.

Kevin Costner MUST BE STOPPED. Good film except for him elbowing his way into it. Shit, can he NEVER do a supporting role?!?

Effective and chilling dramatisation of a pivotal moment in world history, shown as it happened at the time, with no attempt at putting the event in a wider historical context, or interest in what was happening in Moscow or the rest of the world.

Surprisingly limp movie, considering the meatiness of the subject matter. There's a number of artistic touches here that are just baffling, e.g. the seemingly random switches from color to black and white and back again, and permitting Costner to attempt a Boston accent

Overall I liked the movie... a good historical dramamentary. But one thing which will always stand out in this film that drove me *nuts* is that you can repeatedly see the filming mic in the shots. How'd they ever let that by? Sloppy in that regard, but otherwise a good film.

The Cold War has always interested me, but this movie fails to realize the tension that was the Cuban Missile Crisis. It's detailed and relatively accurate, but only a few scenes really live up to expectations. Kevin Costner sucks, the CGI sucks, and switching between color and black and white is pretty pointless.

This is a perfectly acceptable political history pot boiler, save Kevin "Can't Act"'s outstanding performance. Outstanding in that every time this guy hits the screen I'm wishing he would vanish or shut up. Stupid use of black & white film stock, & a little long. Almost a surprise they didn't bust out the narration too.

I'm quite interested in the Kennedy administration and this event in particular, so this picture is okay, but nothing special. The leads do an okay job, and though it was a wise move to not portray the action from JFK's point of view, I didn't think Costner was the best choice to have as main character. Also, the Boston accents are REALLY overemphasized and get pretty grating after a while. (And I live here)
